Turkey has demonstrated its support for the security of its friendly and brotherly country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with another concrete step. One of the new generation drone hunters developed by ASELSAN with national resources, the “KANGAL FPV Anti-Drone System”, was donated to the Bosnian and Herzegovinian army at a ceremony. The ceremony, which took place at the Rajlovac Military Barracks in the capital Sarajevo, was an important indicator of the strong cooperation and solidarity between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by Bosnian Defense Minister Zukan Helez, Turkish Ambassador to Sarajevo Emin Akseki, Military Attaché of the Sarajevo Embassy Colonel Murat Kul and military officials from both countries. The deep historical and cultural ties between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina were emphasized throughout the ceremony, while the importance of cooperation in the field of defense was once again underlined.
Minister Helez: “We See Türkiye as a Brother, the Latest Technology Product Was Donated”
Speaking at the ceremony, Bosnian Defense Minister Zukan Helez said that they had always seen Türkiye as a brother country and expressed their pleasure in receiving this state-of-the-art system donated to them. Emphasizing that the security of airspace is of vital importance in an age where technology is rapidly developing, Minister Helez stated that they are seeking new methods in this area.
Minister Helez stated that unauthorized drone flights have recently been observed over military positions and facilities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and said, “Many countries in the world that invest much more in the defense sector than our country cannot respond adequately to this problem. Our friendly country, the Republic of Turkey, has provided us with assistance by providing anti-drone equipment in order to protect ourselves from unauthorized flights over the facilities and facilities of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to increase the general security of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
Expressing his gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Helez said, “Our friendly country, the Republic of Turkey, has made significant contributions to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina since the day it was founded, and continues to support it, in terms of defense reforms and increasing the capacity of the armed forces.” Stating that they see Türkiye as a strategic partner for them, not only in the field of defense, but also in many processes, Helez emphasized that the system they received is one of the latest technological products in the world and that they have solved an important military problem that many countries are facing thanks to this system.
Ambassador Akseki: “The Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina is Our Priority”
Turkish Ambassador to Sarajevo Emin Akseki also spoke at the ceremony, saying that the security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has historical and cultural ties with Turkey, is one of their priorities. Stating that they have implemented many projects to strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina militarily and support the NATO membership process, Ambassador Akseki expressed his satisfaction with providing support in the training of military personnel, maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment, and modernization activities.
Ambassador Akseki stated that Türkiye's contribution to the EUFOR-ALTHEA Operation, which is the European Union Peace Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina and operates jointly with NATO, constitutes another dimension of the strong military support they provide to Bosnia and Herzegovina. He noted that a total of 1995 agreements and protocols have been signed between the two countries in the field of military cooperation since 47, and 28 of these are in force.
Akseki, who reminded that many military vehicles and systems were delivered to Bosnia and Herzegovina from Türkiye, stated that the donated drone system will also provide significant protection against threats that may come from the air. Akseki emphasized that they strongly support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding that they will continue to contribute to peace and stability in the region.
Delivery Protocol Signed
Following the speeches, a protocol was signed for the official delivery of the KANGAL FPV Anti-Drone System developed by ASELSAN to the Bosnian Army. Signed by Colonel Murat Kul and Minister Zukan Helez, this protocol was a concrete document of the defense cooperation between the two countries.
KANGAL FPV Anti-Drone System: Game-Changing Technology
The KANGAL FPV Anti-Drone System developed by ASELSAN ensures the protection of a wide range of critically important areas from military facilities to government institutions, from high-level official residences to ceremonial areas and checkpoints against drone and mini UAV threats. Produced with ASELSAN’s game-changing technology, KANGAL offers effective protection against possible risks during the movement and stopping of vehicles thanks to its ability to be integrated into security forces’ vehicles.
At a time when UAV threats in the FPV (First Person View) class are becoming increasingly widespread and are particularly frequently observed during the Russia-Ukraine war, the KANGAL system offers a critical solution. These FPV threats, which can be produced at low cost and in high quantities, can pose a serious risk by directly targeting target group units, base areas, critical facilities, and even personnel and land vehicles.
It has become a vital necessity to develop and use effective countermeasure systems against FPV drones, which are known to be produced in thousands per day in war zones. In this context, the KANGAL-FPV System developed by ASELSAN can successfully eliminate such FPV threats with the electronic attack methods applied. The system affects the communication and navigation systems of target drones, causing them to crash or become uncontrollable, thus preventing potential attacks on critical areas.
This high-tech product donated by Türkiye to Bosnia and Herzegovina once again demonstrates how strong the defense industry cooperation between the two countries is. The KANGAL FPV Anti-Drone System will significantly increase the airspace security of the Bosnian army and provide a strategic contribution to the country's defense capabilities. This donation is also considered a concrete expression of Türkiye's commitment to peace and stability in the region.
