A Colorful Summer Surprise for Families from Amtrak and Crayola

Amtrak has joined forces with world-renowned paint brand Crayola to launch a vibrant summer initiative to make travel more fun and affordable for Boston-area travelers. This colorful partnership will feature specially designed trains that encourage creativity and offer family-friendly opportunities.

Crayola-Wrapped Locomotives in Service on Northeast Routes

One of the highlights of this exciting collaboration was the colorful Crayola patterning of two Amtrak ACS-64 Sprinter electric locomotives that operate between Boston and Washington, DC.

The first of these special locomotives showcases a vibrant Violet Blue hue featuring eight recently re-released classic Crayola paint colors. This nostalgic design provides passengers with a delightful visual feast.

The second locomotive stands out with Crayola’s beloved mascot Dan D. and the slogan “Creativity on the Road!” This locomotive, painted in Dandelion yellow, carries a cheerful campaign message that brings together a passion for travel and imagination.

Special Deals for Families and Offers That Encourage Creativity

Free Auto Train Travel for Kids: Through August 31, 2025, children can travel free in Economy or First Class private rooms on Amtrak’s special Auto Train between Lorton, Virginia and Sanford, Florida. Boston-area families can take advantage of this opportunity by connecting via the Northeast Corridor.

Free Entry to Crayola Experience Events: Children with a valid Amtrak ticket will receive free admission to popular Crayola Experience attractions in Pennsylvania (Easton), Florida (Orlando), Texas (Plano) and Minnesota (Mall of America). This special admission offer is valid for travel between May 8 and August 31, and tickets must be used by September 30. Families must show their Amtrak child ticket at check-in to receive free admission.
