Chery Redefines Automotive Safety Standards

Chery, one of the world's leading automotive manufacturers, continues to raise the safety standards of the sector as part of its investments in new generation technologies. The safety performance of the new generation models introduced at the 2025 Chery International Business Conference revealed the brand's determination in this field.

During the conference, the brand's new SUV flagship Chery Super Hybrid (TIGGO9 CSH) attracted attention with its rigorous tests conducted in two different scenarios: 100 percent frontal collision and high-speed spiral rollover. These tests showed that the TIGGO9 CSH is equipped with advanced engineering, as well as pushing the limits of passive safety features.

By demonstrating superior performance in both scenarios, the TIGGO9 CSH embodied the principle of “Safety is the ultimate luxury” and demonstrated its commitment to innovative safety solutions. In the first test, the vehicles collided at a speed of 100 km/h in a 56% frontal collision scenario. Unlike traditional fixed barrier tests, this scenario, which was conducted using a movable barrier, captured realistic crash dynamics. While the front section deformed during the collision, the airbags were quickly deployed and provided additional protection for the occupants. In addition, the A and B pillars remained intact, while sufficient space was preserved in the cabin for survivability. Critical safety systems, such as door locks and hazard lights, were activated instantly, while the fuel system also provided security against any deformation or leakage.

In the second stage, a high-speed spiral roll test was performed. The vehicle, which climbed the inclined ramp at a speed of 68 km/h, rolled 180 degrees and entered a free fall from a height of 1,1 meters. This challenging test aimed to measure structural durability and safety by reflecting real accident conditions. Despite the intense impact, the cabin structure was not deformed and the safety of the passengers was ensured. The battery system quickly shut down the high voltage, eliminating possible electrolyte leakage, thermal leakage or fire risks. While all systems were working smoothly, airbags, seat belt tensioners and the emergency call system were automatically triggered. This performance reinforced TIGGO9 CSH's leading position in high-level safety technologies.

In addition, 1600 km of durability tests were successfully completed. These tests proved that the vehicles showed consistent and reliable performance under different road conditions and challenging driving environments. The powertrain systems and durable structure of the TIGGO9 CSH exceeded traditional safety standards and introduced a new safety model in the sector. The vehicle body is manufactured using 85 percent high-strength steel and heat-treated steel with a tensile strength of 1300 MPa. The B-pillars reinforced with advanced TRB technology and the “cage-style energy-absorbing space capsule” design provide superior protection against front and side impacts. All versions are equipped with 10 airbags, and this protection system offers maximum safety in the front, sides and curtain areas.

Active safety systems are also equipped with advanced driving support technologies. Features such as forward collision warning (FCW), autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane departure warning (LDP) help prevent accidents while driving. Battery protection is provided by IP68 waterproof certification, high-strength steel underbody and 7/24 health monitoring system. In this way, the safety of electrical systems is maintained even in extreme conditions.

Chery aims to further enhance the safety capabilities of the TIGGO9 CSH with its new test program called “Mission Impossible”. Challenging tests conducted on sand tumbles, river crossings and ice-covered mountain peaks demonstrate the vehicles’ resistance to various extreme conditions. In this context, CSH technology proves its capacity to provide safety solutions even in areas deemed impossible. With these tests and technological developments, the brand aims to go beyond industry standards and start a new era in safety.

The safety performance of TIGGO9 CSH has also been met with interest in the global market, with sales in approximately 20 countries in Europe, Central and South America, North Africa and Southeast Asia. The brand continues to be a pioneer in the sector with sustainable and smart transportation solutions, embracing the idea that safety is the greatest luxury. These developments strengthen Chery's vision in vehicle safety and innovation, while contributing to the new generation of SUVs setting new standards in safety.
