Şanlıurfa Haliliye Municipality carries out important studies to ensure that children, who will be the drivers and pedestrians of the future, gain traffic awareness at an early age. In this context, in the Children's Traffic Education Park, students learn traffic rules with practical applications as well as theoretical knowledge.
The trainings, which are carried out under the coordination of Şanlıurfa Governorship and in cooperation with Haliliye Municipality, Provincial Police Department and Provincial Directorate of National Education, continue uninterruptedly. Students, who are regularly brought to the Children's Traffic Education Park from schools across the district, are informed in detail about traffic rules with the help of traffic police officers on duty.
During the training, the little ones are taught the use of pedestrian crossings, the importance of overpasses and the meanings of various traffic signs. After the theoretical information, students experience driving on the track with battery-powered vehicles. Children who receive training in a realistic environment where traffic signs and signs are placed, intersections and pedestrian paths are located, learn the importance of safe driving by following traffic rules in practice.
Teacher Ümran Bulunmaz Horoz, who attended the training with Incirliova Primary School students, stated that this training was both educational and fun for her students and thanked Haliliye Municipality and the teams responsible for the training. Teacher Horoz said, “We brought our students here. We have a topic about traffic training in schools, we cover it, but covering it here in a practical way and ensuring that they see it will be very good for them. Because the training makes it permanent in them. It is a very important issue, especially for the loss of life in traffic. Our students are having fun here on this subject. They are receiving training thanks to our traffic police. Again, they will cover the training with battery-powered cars in a practical way. We were very pleased. It is a very good training, I thank Haliliye Municipality.” The aim is for children to internalize traffic rules better and grow up as more conscious individuals in the future thanks to such practical training.
