A huge project that will modernize the transportation network between Çorum and the Delice district of Kırıkkale is progressing at full speed. The high-speed train line, which was implemented with a significant budget of 75 billion liras, is aimed to be completed by the end of 2029. This modern railway line, which can reach speeds of 200 kilometers per hour, is expected to make significant contributions to the region in economic and social terms. The 5 stations and 1 siding planned on the route will open the doors to a new era in passenger and freight transportation.
Project Details and Route
This important project, which will connect the 120-kilometer distance between Çorum and Delice with a high-standard railway, is being built in accordance with the speed of 200 kilometers per hour. The line, which was implemented with a cost of approximately 75 billion liras, is expected to have a construction period of 1800 working days and is planned to be completed by the end of 2029. There will be 5 modern stations and 1 siding (a temporary waiting area for trains) on the route of the line. The planned stations are positioned to meet the different needs of the region: Kırıkkale-Delice passenger and freight station, Sungurlu Organized Industrial Zone freight station, Sungurlu passenger station, Çorum freight station and Çorum passenger station, which will be built only 700 meters from the city center. These stations will both provide comfortable transportation for passengers and contribute to the development of industry and trade in the region.
Investments and Expenditures in 2025
At the Provincial Coordination Board Meeting chaired by Çorum Governor Ali Çalgan, important information was shared about public investment projects for 2025. Governor Çalgan announced that 2025 projects worth a total of 122 billion liras were being carried out in Çorum as of 291. It was stated that the total budget allocated for these projects in 2025 was 13,7 billion liras, and that 4 billion liras of this budget was allocated to the State Railways (TCDD) and 9,7 billion liras to other public institutions and organizations. It was reported that a total of 640 million liras was spent on these projects in the first period of the year.
Huge Investment Emphasis on Railways
Governor Ali Çalgan emphasized that there has been a remarkable increase of approximately 200 percent in public investments compared to previous years. He stated that the main reason for this significant increase is the high-standard railway construction projects between Delice-Sungurlu and Çorum-Samsun implemented by the TCDD General Directorate. Governor Çalgan added that the total cost of the project between Delice-Çorum alone is 75 billion liras and that a budget of 2025 billion liras has been allocated specifically for this project for 4. This major investment clearly shows how much priority the railway infrastructure in the region is.
Project Completion Target and Technical Details
Nejdet Kocaman, Director of the Infrastructure Construction Branch of the TCDD General Directorate Construction Department, provided detailed information about the technical details of the project. Kocaman reiterated that the constructed railway line was designed for a speed of 200 kilometers per hour and that the total construction period of the project was planned as 1800 working days. Noting that the contract price of the project was approximately 75 billion liras, Kocaman stated that the work was progressing according to the planned schedule and that the project was targeted to be completed by the end of 2029.
Stations and Infrastructure Works
Nejdet Kocaman drew attention to the importance of the 5 stations and 1 siding planned on the route. He stated that the stations were determined as Kırıkkale-Delice passenger and freight station, Sungurlu Organized Industrial Zone freight station, Sungurlu passenger station, Çorum freight station and Çorum passenger station, which will be located only 700 meters from the city center. He emphasized that Çorum passenger station, which draws attention especially with its proximity to the city center, will also significantly facilitate urban transportation. Kocaman also added that 225 thousand cubic meters of borrowed excavation has already been completed within the scope of the infrastructure works of the project and that ground survey works (drilling) are being meticulously continued at different points of the line. The Çorum-Delice high-speed train line project stands out as a strategic investment that will strengthen the transportation infrastructure of the region as well as provide significant acceleration to its economic and social development.
