The first meeting of the Silk Road Municipalities Union was held in Göynük, a historical district of Bolu, with the participation of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş took the first step with the aim of making Ayaş, Güdül, Beypazarı, Nallıhan, Mudurnu, Göynük, Taraklı, Geyve and Sapanca, which are located on the Silk Road Tourism Corridor, important centers of attraction once again.
The first meeting of the Silk Road Municipalities Union was held in Göynük, a historical district of Bolu. In addition to Mansur Yavaş, the mayors and representatives of Nallıhan, Beypazarı, Güdül, Ayaş, Mudurnu, Taraklı, Geyve, Sapanca and Göynük and the representative of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Sibel Bozdağcı, attended the meeting held in the Müderrisler Mansion.
At the meeting, projects that need to be developed to open the historical Silk Road Corridor from Ayaş to Sapanca to tourism and to turn the districts into centers of attraction were discussed.
Reminding that many works were initiated to revitalize the Ayaş-Sapanca line during his term as Beypazarı Mayor, Yavaş said, “I even had a photo shoot done. What will tourists be able to see when they come to this line? I also had images of this taken.”
“Now, all our newly elected mayors are extremely enthusiastic about the realization of this project,” Yavaş said and continued:
“The line that really interests us is the Geyve, Taraklı, Mudurnu, Göynük, Nallıhan, Beypazarı, Ayaş and Güdül line. As we have seen in Göynük, it is possible to see the life here exactly as it was 100-150 years ago. With what? With its culture, food, customs and traditions. The things that tourists want the most are to see and experience our traditional values. They find them extremely interesting. This both benefits employment; it results in the people living here not leaving their district, and at least we create awareness and protect our culture in terms of transferring the culture that has been around for years to the next generations.”
