Fethiye, the popular tourist center of Muğla, is hosting the Babadağ Ultra Marathon, which is being organized for the third time this year. The event, which was brought to life with the cooperation of the Turkish Athletics Federation, Fethiye District Governorship, Fethiye Municipality, Babadağ Cable Car and Babadağ Ultra Marathon Organization, started with great excitement with the participation of approximately 15 athletes from 500 different countries.
Tough Challenge in Five Different Stages
In the Babadağ Ultra Marathon, which has attracted international attention, athletes are competing fiercely in 5 different stages with different levels of difficulty. The start of the marathon was given from the Belcekız location, the pearl of the world-famous Ölüdeniz Neighborhood. Athletes who sweat to be ranked are trying to overcome difficult courses among the unique natural beauties of Babadağ.
Emphasis on Alternative Tourism with the Slogan “Run, Fly, and Vacation”
Organization manager Serkan Özdemir expressed his satisfaction with the intensity of the participation in the event in his statement to the press members. Stating that they acted with the slogan of “Run, fly, and have a vacation”, Özdemir said, “We started the 56-kilometer long stage and the 15-kilometer race. We will also start Türkiye’s first 26-kilometer Babadağ downhill race today.” Özdemir also added that athletes will have the opportunity to run in a magnificent geography and that they aim to contribute to alternative sports tourism in the region with this event.
The exciting competition in the Babadağ Ultra Marathon will end after the other stage races to be held tomorrow. This prestigious event offers athletes an unforgettable experience and the opportunity to introduce the natural beauties of Fethiye to the international arena.
