Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Bursa City Council took an important step to ensure the active participation of the public in the 1/100.000 Scale Environmental Plan studies, which will determine the long-term development vision of the city. 'We Are Talking About Our Dream Bursa' The first stop of the meeting series named was İnegöl, one of the important districts of Bursa.
The 1/100.000 Scale Environmental Plan studies, which will carry Bursa safely into the future in the light of scientific data, are being carried out meticulously under the guidance of the Bursa Planning Agency and Advisory Board. Within the scope of the public participation initiative, which constitutes one of the most important legs of this process, the 'We Are Talking About the Bursa of Our Dreams' meetings, which will cover 17 districts under the leadership of the Bursa City Council, have begun. The first meeting held in İnegöl was attended by Bursa City Council President Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Aksoy, İnegöl City Council President Bülent Temelli, Karacabey City Council President Abdullah Akkoç, Osmangazi City Council President Fatma Çil Yılmaz, Yıldırım City Council President Hüseyin İşcan, Keles City Council President Hüseyin Orhan and many citizens of İnegöl.
Prof. Dr. Aksoy: “The Voice of the People Will Be Heard in Decision-Making Processes”
Addressing the people of İnegöl at the meeting, Bursa City Council President Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Aksoy stated that the people of İnegöl will directly contribute to planning decisions by explaining how they want to see İnegöl and Bursa in 2050. Emphasizing the importance of the people's voices being heard in decision-making processes, Prof. Dr. Aksoy stated that such participatory mechanisms are indispensable for a democratic and sustainable planning approach. Explaining that they want to actively contribute to the 1/100.000 Scale Environmental Plan studies as city councils, Prof. Dr. Aksoy said, “With the 'We Are Talking About Our Dream Bursa' meetings, we aim to get the opinions of the people and especially individuals who do not have the opportunity to be represented. We get the opinions of the people directly with these meetings. At the meetings, 'What are the weaknesses of your district? What are the strengths of your district? How do you want to see your district and Bursa in 2050? What are your criticisms and suggestions for the future, and your expectations towards the local and central administration?' “We ask four basic questions under the headings: ‘What are the main questions that we are asking?’. We will present all the outputs we have obtained after these important meetings that we will organize in 17 districts to Bursa Planning Agency in a detailed report,” he said.
Temelli: “Bursa Will Be Planned with the Opinions of the People”
İnegöl City Council President Bülent Temelli expressed that ensuring public participation in the 1/100.000 Scale Environmental Plan studies is of great importance. Temelli stated that opinions were received from all segments of the İnegöl and Bursa population through such meetings held face-to-face and surveys conducted via digital media, and emphasized that the future of İnegöl and Bursa will be planned by taking into account the valuable opinions and suggestions of citizens. This participatory approach will allow Bursa's future to be shaped in a more sustainable, livable manner and in line with the expectations of the population.
