Opel’s representative in the B hatchback class, the Corsa, continues to grow stronger. Opel’s best-selling model in the small class continues to be a perennial favorite that has won the appreciation of both customers and experts. Now, Opel and the Corsa are celebrating a brand new success. The current F-generation Corsa, which has sold more than one million units, rolled off the production line at the Zaragoza plant in Spain and hit the roads after its launch in 2019. Demand for the Corsa continued to grow in the first quarter of 2025. The number of new vehicle registrations in Europe increased by 18 percent compared to the previous quarter. Since the first-generation Corsa was first introduced in 1982, around 15 million Corsas have been sold worldwide.
Stating that the Corsa is a sales champion, Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel & Vauxhall and General Manager of Stellantis Germany, said: “The sales figure of one million units of the current generation clearly shows how much our customers love this small car. With its lively design, accessible advanced technologies and compact structure, the Corsa manages to appeal to even the most diverse customer groups. This unique combination makes the Corsa the fundamental guarantee of success in our product portfolio.”
This great success is also reflected in other figures. According to the registration statistics of the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), the current Corsa has been the best-selling small car in Germany in each of the last four years. In the United Kingdom, the Corsa was also the best-selling car in its segment for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. In both of these important markets, it once again held the B segment leadership in the first quarter of 2025. In the period January to March 2025, it was also in the top three in its segment in other countries such as Croatia, the Netherlands, Norway and Slovenia. In Greece, the Corsa was the best-selling passenger car in the entire market in 2023. The Corsa has won numerous awards, both from the public and experts. The “Best in Class” and “Best Electric City Car” awards given to the Opel Corsa Electric in 2025 are the most recent examples of this.
There are many reasons behind the Corsa’s continued success. The current Corsa generation has a distinctive appearance, with its Opel Visor front design. The model offers comfort with its spacious interior for up to five people, while its accessible advanced technologies, such as adaptive LED headlights, make journeys both more enjoyable and safer. Customers also have a wide range of engines to choose from. Customers can choose between electric and efficient internal combustion engines. This allows the Corsa to offer a driving experience that suits almost every usage profile and need.
In addition, Opel is continuously developing its B-segment model, making it even more suitable for everyday use, more attractive and user-friendly. For example, the Corsa Electric: With its 50 kWS battery and 100 kW (136 hp) output, it now offers a range of up to 492 kilometers with local zero emissions (WLTP). These features make the new Corsa an indispensable favorite for customers and show that this success story will continue unabated in the future.
