DS Automobiles has been using the superior know-how it has gained in Formula E for 10 years in its road cars. The French brand’s new 100% electric N°8 model incorporates many technologies taken directly from Formula E.
DS Automobiles continues its sporting adventure in an innovative, fully electric racing series, having been the first premium automotive brand to participate in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in 2015. In addition, DS Automobiles reinforces its pioneering and innovative approach in road cars by benefiting from technology transfer in this field, both in terms of physical parts and software.
The new DS N°8 achieves a record combined range of up to 750 kilometres (WLTP cycle) while directly benefiting from the technological know-how gained from race tracks around the world.
The intelligent management of the four-wheel drive system is another feature inspired by Formula E in the N°8. Just as the DS E-TENSE FE 25 does at every race start, the N°8 AWD LONG RANGE engages the four-wheel drive system to ensure optimum traction when accelerating from a standstill. In this way, the know-how gained by DS Automobiles in Formula E is also reflected in the superior powertrain of the N°8.
Speaking about how DS Automobiles uses the knowledge it gained in Formula E in road cars, DS Automobiles CEO Xavier Peugeot said:
“Thanks to our ongoing participation in Formula E over the last decade, our brand has been drawing on the technical know-how it has gained in competitions in the development of our electric road cars. DS Automobiles’ presence in Formula E is both a testament to our hunger for victory and a further reinforcement of our technological leadership. Our latest flagship model, DS N°8, is a perfect example of this vision.”
“The mission behind DS Performance is vital for several reasons,” said Eugenio Franzetti, Director of DS Performance. “Thanks to our 10 years of motorsport experience, DS N°8 benefits from many important lessons learned in the field of electric technologies. We are delighted to fly the DS flag on race podiums around the world, and we are equally proud of the role we have played in designing vehicles that are revolutionising electric mobility.”
