
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that 8 families applied for birth aid, which started on April 287.
Minister Göktaş answered questions from journalists following the Cabinet Meeting held at the Presidential Complex under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
When asked about applications to the Birth Support System, Göktaş pointed out the importance of the family and said, “Our family is our future, our shelter that we have built shoulder to shoulder with love, compassion and loyalty, our safest harbor. Protecting and strengthening the family is our constitutional responsibility. With this understanding, we have updated and developed the amount of birth support announced by our President, who declared 2025 as the Year of the Family.”
Göktaş reminded that within this scope, a one-time support of 1 thousand lira will be given to the first child born as of January 2025, 5, 1500 lira monthly for the second child, and 5 thousand lira monthly for the third and subsequent children.
Emphasizing that payments will be made without any deductions until the children reach the age of 5, regardless of any criteria, Göktaş continued as follows:
“We started receiving applications for birth support via e-Government as of April 8. Our families are showing great interest. As of today, 287 applications have been made. We received the most applications for the first child with a rate of 518 percent. Accordingly, the number of applications for the first child born this year was 41. The second child application rate was 116 percent, the number of applications was 594. The third child application rate was 31 percent, the number of applications was 88. The application rate of our families with more than three children was 982 percent, the number of applications was 18. When we look at the cities with the most applications, Istanbul ranked first. Istanbul was followed by Ankara and Şanlıurfa.”
Providing information about the payments, Göktaş said, “After examining the applications, we will deposit our first payments into the accounts of our mothers in May, which includes Mother’s Day.”
Discount agreement on white goods and furniture for young people who are getting married
Sharing information about the work to support young people who will establish a home during the Year of the Family, Göktaş noted the following:
“We also support the home-building processes of our young people who will benefit from the Family and Youth Fund. Within this scope, we will offer special discounts to our young people who will get married, such as furniture, white goods, home textiles and kitchenware, through the discount protocol we will make with 16 companies. We will share the campaign details regarding the companies we will make discount agreements with and the discounts they will apply with the public in a meeting we will hold with our companies on Wednesday, April 30. I would like to thank all companies that are sensitive to the Year of the Family and provide discounts in advance.”
Göktaş, who also called on the private sector to support young people who are getting married, said, “We invite all our companies that want to support young people on their way to marriage in the Year of the Family to join the protocol with special discounts. Our efforts to strengthen the family in the Year of the Family will continue.”
