Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that Russia has launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine. The attacks targeted civilians in the capital Kiev and other regions, it said. This clearly demonstrates Russia's reluctance to engage in peace talks and its intention to continue the war.
Russia is the Obstacle to Peace
Sybiha stressed that Russia’s demands yesterday to withdraw from Ukraine’s regions, coupled with these brutal attacks, show that the real obstacle to peace is not Ukraine but Russia. “The place where pressure should be applied is Moscow, not Kiev,” he said, adding that the international community should increase pressure on Russia.
Scary Night in Kiev
Sybiha said that the Ukrainian capital Kiev had a particularly terrible and noisy night, adding that nine civilians had been killed and more than 9 people, including six children, had been injured in Kiev so far. He added that other cities and communities in Ukraine had also been targeted by Russian missiles and drones in the middle of the night, killing and injuring civilians.
Call to the International Community
Sybiha said that Russian President Vladimir Putin, not in words but in actions, does not respect any peace efforts and only wants to continue the war. "Weakness and concessions will not stop his terror and aggression. Only force and pressure will," she said, calling on the international community to take tougher measures against Russia.
