Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s innovative work in the field of transportation continues to bear fruit. At the Conf-ITS’25 Smart Transportation Systems Conference organized by AUS Turkey under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Konya Metropolitan Municipality was deemed worthy of the “Municipalities Award” for its “Development of Digital Twin Platform in Transportation” project. This success stands out as an indicator of the important steps taken by the city in line with its smart city vision.
A New Era in Transportation with Digital Twin Technology
Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s award-winning “Development of Digital Twin Platform in Transportation” project aims to make urban transportation more effective, efficient and sustainable. Thanks to this platform, all infrastructure and smart systems used in transportation and traffic can be monitored in real time. It is aimed to reduce traffic congestion and optimize public transportation routes with artificial intelligence-supported analysis and predictions.
Digital twin technology creates a virtual model of a city’s transportation system, enabling traffic forecasts, alternative routes, testing of transportation policies, and preparation for emergency scenarios. In this way, it is aimed to increase the quality of life of city dwellers, reduce carbon footprint, and minimize economic losses by creating a sustainable transportation infrastructure.
Proud Statement from President Altay
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay expressed his pride in this meaningful achievement. Mayor Altay said, “The fact that the steps we have taken in smart transportation systems have been awarded on such a prestigious platform this year has both made us proud and motivated. We aim to make urban transportation more effective, efficient and sustainable, especially with our ‘Digital Twin Platform’ project. I would like to thank my colleagues and stakeholder institutions who contributed to the award. We present this meaningful award to our city and fellow citizens. We will continue to work in line with our smart city vision.”
