The first phase of a new period in the Milk Lamb Project, which has become synonymous with the city and in which Izmir Metropolitan Municipality distributes free milk to children between the ages of 2-5 from families in need, has been successfully completed. Following the first distribution period that started in January and ended in April, the new distribution period has also started rapidly. Within the scope of the project, in addition to contributing to the healthy development of children, this time baby shampoo is being delivered to households in need as a hygiene product.
Acting on the principle of “Let No Child Drink Milk”, the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to deliver fresh milk purchased from local producers to children all around the city. In this way, both the rural economy is supported and the access of Izmir children to healthy and nutritious food is ensured. In addition, a significant contribution is made to the budgets of families experiencing economic difficulties.
Project Expands with Hygiene Support
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Social Services Department Social Services Branch Directorate Milk Lamb Chief Enes Yaşar shared important information about the new period of the project. Yaşar said, “As İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, our Milk Lamb Project continues at full speed. We have successfully completed another distribution period for our citizens who have completed their applications and earned the right to benefit from the project. We have started our new distribution period in 30 districts and 622 neighborhoods. In this period, in line with the instructions of our Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, baby shampoo will be delivered to our children in addition to milk support. With this support, we not only contribute to the healthy development of our children, but also draw attention to the importance of hygiene.”

Emphasizing that they support rural milk producers with the Milk Lamb Project and aim to contribute to the growth of healthy generations and family budgets, Enes Yaşar stated that citizens who want to benefit from the project can apply online through the “bizizmir.com” website. It was also stated that support can be received from the Alo 153 line for any questions about the project.
Who Can Benefit?
Within the scope of the Milk Lamb Project, which is carried out for families with a certain income level, 2 liters of free milk are distributed monthly to children between the ages of 5-8 of families that meet the specified criteria. Thanks to this important project, which the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues with determination in the new term with its social municipality approach, the 20-person special team of the Social Services and Aid Branch Directorate regularly delivers milk to families for children's consumption. Distributions are carried out meticulously in a total of 30 neighborhoods in 622 districts of Izmir.
