Public Transport Safety Increases in Ordu, Electric Scooters Return

Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) made important decisions at its regular meeting for April 2025. At the meeting chaired by Deputy Mayor Celal Tezcan, it was unanimously approved to install audio and video recording devices in all public transportation vehicles serving in 19 districts. In addition, it was decided to restart electric scooter service in Altınordu, Ünye, Fatsa and Perşembe districts.

Camera System Became Mandatory in Public Transport

One of the most striking decisions taken at the UKOME meeting was to make camera recording systems mandatory for all public transport vehicles throughout Ordu. All taxis, minibuses, shuttles and other public transport vehicles will have audio and video recording devices. This application is expected to increase passenger and driver safety, contribute to the resolution of possible disputes and be an important step in crime prevention.

Electric Scooter Era Begins Again in Four Districts

Another important decision taken at the meeting was the resumption of the electric scooter service. Initially, a total of 626 scooters are planned to be in service in the districts of Altınordu, Fatsa, Ünye and Perşembe. Prioritizing pedestrian safety, the Metropolitan Municipality will implement strict controls on scooter use and the maximum speed of the scooters will be limited to 12,5 km/h. Within the scope of this service to be provided by two different companies, 334 electric scooters will be offered to citizens in Altınordu, 128 in Fatsa, 134 in Ünye and 30 in Perşembe district. With this decision, an environmentally friendly and practical transportation alternative will be revived in the districts in question.

Strict Control Will Be Implemented on Closed Streets

In the UKOME meeting, the control of vehicles and equipment that are prohibited from entering closed streets was also tightened. Accordingly, vehicles that endanger pedestrian safety such as bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, street vendors will not be allowed to enter closed streets in Altınordu, Ünye, Fatsa, Perşembe and other districts. This decision aims to ensure safety in pedestrian priority areas.

Driver Training Tracks Determined in Aybastı and Ünye

Another important agenda item discussed at the UKOME meeting in April was the determination of the routes of Motor Vehicle Driving Courses in Aybastı and Ünye districts. The relevant report was discussed and a decision was reached. With this decision, driver candidates will be able to complete their training on safe and suitable routes.
