Giant Inspection of Bayrampaşa Food Site

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made important statements about the comprehensive inspection carried out at the food site in the Bayrampaşa district of Istanbul. Minister Yumaklı emphasized that such a large-scale inspection was carried out for the first time in Türkiye and stated that 30 different teams were working simultaneously in the field.

58 Businesses Inspected, 35 Tons of Products Seized

Minister Yumaklı stated that the inspections were carried out in line with complaints from citizens and findings of previous inspections, and announced that a total of 58 cheese sales businesses were inspected and serious irregularities were detected in 30 businesses. These irregularities included productions that had not yet matured, were unlabeled or had fake labels, were suspected of being counterfeit or adulterated, and were not in compliance with hygiene conditions. As a result of the inspection, a total of 35 tons of products were seized.

25 Tons of Products Will Be Preserved, 10 Tons of Products Will Be Destroyed

Minister Yumaklı stated that 25 tons of the seized products were stored and found to have been released to the market without maturing, and announced that 10 tons of products would be destroyed on the grounds that they were not reliable. The Minister emphasized that these inspections aimed to protect consumers' right to access safe food, as well as to support businesses that do their job properly.

Inspections Will Continue to Increase

Minister Yumaklı thanked all colleagues who contributed to the inspections and stated that such inspections will continue to increase without slowing down. He reiterated that their aim is to ensure reliability in the food sector and to protect the health of consumers.
