Erdemli Hanım House Started to Provide Service

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality is making a name for itself with the social projects it has implemented to alleviate the difficulties women face in their daily lives and to support them. As a new example of these meaningful works, the 'Erdemli Hanım Evi', where women living especially in remote districts and rural areas can rest, socialize and spend quality time during their time in the center, has been opened. The Hanım Evi concept, the first of which was implemented in Tarsus last year, offers a shelter that is as warm and comfortable as home for women coming from districts far from the center.

The Lady's House: Much More Than Just a Resting Place

Operating under the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Social Services Department, Erdemli Hanım Evi goes beyond being just a place for women to rest. It also offers a warm and friendly environment where women can socialize, read books, watch television and participate in various activities. Women who can spend time comfortably in the resting areas can also benefit from specially designed practical areas such as the baby-feeding room. In this way, women who come to the center from their districts for various jobs have the opportunity to spend the time they have to wait in an efficient and enjoyable way. Erdemli Hanım Evi, where various refreshments are also offered during the day, is open every weekday from 08.00:17.00 in the morning to XNUMX:XNUMX in the evening.

Uzunbağ: “We Attach Great Importance to Social Policies”

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Erdemli Coordinator Vedat Uzunbağ emphasized that the Metropolitan Municipality is a municipality that attaches great importance to social policies and said, “Our people already see this in many areas. Erdemli also feels the social touches of the Metropolitan Municipality very closely. The Metropolitan opened the second Women's House in Erdemli about 1 month ago.” Uzunbağ, who stated that Erdemli has neighborhoods quite far from the center, said, “A woman who comes to Erdemli center for treatment or for another reason can come here if she has no place to wait. If she sits somewhere outside and drinks tea or coffee or wants to eat something, the economic conditions are clear. We have a Women's House here where women can spend time until they return to their villages.” Uzunbağ added that there is a baby-feeding room in Erdemli Hanım Evi and that free tea and cookies are served as treats, and said, “Women who come to Hanım Evi, which is close to Erdemli State Hospital, can spend time in Hanım Evi, which is warm in winter and cool in summer, without paying any expenses.”

Bayraktar: “It Has Become a New Meeting Point for Women”

Başak Gökdal Bayraktar, who works at the Department of Social Services, stated that the Hanım Evi offers women a safe space where they can socialize, rest and relax. Bayraktar, who explained that the Hanım Evi is a breathing space for women who come from distant neighborhoods and do their work in the center, said, “After women finish their work, they can drink their tea and rest here. They chat in a nice environment while waiting for the bus. They can spend time here safely without having to wait in the heat in the summer or the cold in the winter. The Hanım Evi is no longer just a waiting area; it has become a meeting point where women come together, socialize and feel good. We provide service every weekday between 08.00:17.00 and XNUMX:XNUMX.”

Women Are Very Satisfied with the Comfort of the Ladies' House

Yasemin Yalçın, who said that she used Hanım Evi after dropping her daughter off at school or taking care of her business at the hospital, expressed her satisfaction by saying, “This place is very nice and comfortable. I am very pleased and I recommend it to all women. Women should not wait outside in the cold and rain, they should come here. Our Mayor thinks about the people of Erdemli. We are very pleased with him.” Hacer Karaca, who stated that she used Hanım Evi to rest after taking care of her business at the hospital, said, “I heard that this place opened when I came to the hospital. I also recommended this place to my friends. The staff is friendly and sweet-talking. When you look at this place, you feel relieved, it is very nice. It looks like my home and it is very comfortable. I love our Mayor very much. He brought many services to our village. We were not receiving any service before, but after our Mayor came, our roads became very nice.” She expressed her satisfaction with both Hanım Evi and the services of the Metropolitan Municipality. This meaningful project of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality is considered an important step towards supporting women’s more active participation in social life and increasing their quality of life.
