Elevator Tender for Izmit Train Station Completed

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has taken action again to complete the elevator construction work planned to facilitate access to the Izmit Train Station. A new supply tender was held for the project, which was previously tendered but whose contract was terminated due to the contractor's failure to work. Two companies submitted bids for the tender held for the elevator to be built at the point connecting Cumhuriyet Street and Ruşen Hakkı Street across from the Izmit Train Station.

Two Firms Offered for the Tender

The tender for “İzmit Station Elevator Construction and Completion Work” was attended by Öz Asansör and Emay Yol ve Yapı companies. The scope of the tender includes; construction works with 2 tons of various profiles, steel bars and steel sheets, 60 square meters of aluminum composite facade cladding, aluminum profile and tempered glass cladding works for 130 square meters of elevator towers, construction of a modern elevator with a capacity of 13 people with double entrances and other various works specified in the administrative specifications. As a result of the evaluation, the lowest bid was given by Öz Asansör company with 5 million 330 thousand TL. After the detailed evaluation to be made by the tender committee, a contract will be signed with the company that won the tender and then the site will be delivered and the works will start.

Ease of Transportation and Comfort Will Increase

This elevator project, which will be implemented by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, will provide citizens with a more comfortable and safe transportation to Izmit Train Station. It is aimed to eliminate the difficulties that especially elderly, disabled and sick citizens have in accessing the train station. The elevator, which will be built in the area where the existing stairs are located between Cumhuriyet Street and Ruşen Hakkı Street, will significantly increase the comfort of transportation in the region.

Previous Tender Was Terminated

The contractor company, which had previously won the “İzmit Train Station Elevator Construction Work” tender held on May 24, 2024, had its contract terminated because it had not started work. Although the Metropolitan Municipality delivered the site on May 31, 2024, it was determined during the field inspections that no progress had been made. Upon this situation, the contractor company was imposed a fine of 140.151,75 TL for delayed work and 398.000,00 TL for not making late or no notifications to the technical personnel, totaling 538.151,75 TL. No valid bid was received for the first completion tender held on February 10, 2025 for the completion of the work. With this new tender process of the Metropolitan Municipality, the İzmit Train Station elevator access project is expected to be implemented as soon as possible.
