Design Works for National Metro Production Have Begun

Selim Koçbay, General Manager of the Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Corporation (TÜRASAŞ), announced that the eagerly awaited National Electric Train Set will hit the rails this year. Koçbay announced that this development will mark the beginning of a new era in Türkiye's rail transportation.

Designed with High Comfort and Innovation

General Manager Koçbay said, “The National Electric Train Set, which is the first local and national high-speed train of the country and has a speed of 225 kilometers per hour, has been designed with high comfort and innovation.” Sharing the details of the project, Koçbay stated that there are 8 vehicles in each set and that the high-speed train set has a total passenger capacity of 584 people, two of which are reserved for disabled passengers. These features show that domestic production prioritizes not only technical competence, but also passenger comfort and social responsibility awareness.

He reported that TÜRASAŞ, which has taken an important step in this direction, has started design studies for national metro production. This development is of critical importance in terms of reducing external dependency in urban transportation and strengthening domestic production.
