Cultural Heritage Tours Begin in Diyarbakır

Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality will organize a series of trips to the city center and districts in order to introduce students and women to cultural heritage.

Within the scope of the project, which was implemented by the Tourism Branch Directorate of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs with the understanding that "Only a heritage that is recognized and valued can be preserved", a series of trips will be organized to cultural heritage sites, museums and natural beauties in the city center and districts throughout April and May.

The program, which covers the districts of Sur, Çınar, Dicle, Eğil, Lice, Kulp, Silvan, Çüngüş, Hazro, Çermik, Kocaköy, Ergani and Hani, aims to introduce children in rural neighborhood schools to the history of the city center, and students in central districts to the cultural heritage of the districts. In this way, it is aimed for city residents to get to know history, culture and beauties, to establish a connection with the past and to gain a sense of belonging.

Students who want to participate in the tour program will apply to the Tourism Branch Directorate of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs through their school administrators.

Women will benefit

The program will also benefit trainees receiving training at the Women's Life Centers affiliated with the Department of Women and Family Services, as well as women who have not had the opportunity to visit historical and cultural heritage sites before.

The first trip is on April 27

The program will begin on April 27 with students from Silvan touring the historical Sur district, after which plans will be made for other locations.

Multilingual promotional materials

It is planned to increase tourism awareness, consciousness and participation with multilingual promotional materials to be distributed during the trips and activities targeting intangible cultural heritage.

The Tourism Branch Directorate will continue its work to increase sustainable tourism capacity and popularize the local tourism concept.
