Bursa Metro Station Coloured for Little Hearts

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality continues to spread the joy of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day to the city. Within the scope of a project implemented in cooperation with BURULAŞ specifically for this meaningful day, Dörtçelik Children's Hospital Metro Station has taken on the identity of a "Child-Friendly Metro Station" with a colorful transformation. This station has now become an area where children can have a fun and educational time, beyond being just a transportation point.

A Stop for Joy and Learning: Features of the Child-Friendly Station

Designed with children’s comfort and entertainment in mind, the Child-Friendly Metro Station draws attention with its colorful details. The station’s walls are decorated with permanent toys and cute drawings, while colorful benches and special play areas have been placed in the waiting areas. The stair steps are equipped with educational information that will attract children’s attention. In addition, warning signs and directions have been rearranged in a language that children can understand, and a baby care room has also been created. In order to further cheer up the atmosphere of the station, all information and warning announcements are made with children’s voices.

“You are the joy of this city”

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Yalçın Işıkyıldız, BURULAŞ General Manager Fahrettin Beşli, managers, mukhtars, children and their families attended the opening ceremony of the Child-Friendly Metro Station. Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Mayor Işıkyıldız stated that they wanted to make the difficult journey of the children going to Dörtçelik Children's Hospital a little easier and to leave a smile on their faces, and said, "This station is now yours. The pictures and games here are for you. Because you are special. You are the joy of this city, the future of this country." Işıkyıldız also touched on the importance of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, emphasizing that they carry the spirit of this special holiday presented to children by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Goal: More Child-Friendly Spaces

BURULAŞ General Manager Fahrettin Beşli stated that the sensitivity of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey was effective in the implementation of the project. Beşli noted that they designed this special station in order to raise the morale of children and their families who came to the hospital. He also announced that work is ongoing to transform Uludağ University Station into a “Youth Friendly Metro Station.”

After the opening ribbon was cut, children and protocol members left their handprints on the “dreams with colors” wall and toured the station. This meaningful project of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality makes the transportation experience of the little ones fun while also touching their imagination. It is expected that the efforts to make other areas in the city child-friendly will continue to increase.
