Batman Governorship is implementing an important project in order to diversify and increase the income sources of producers in the city. Work continues at full speed within the scope of the "Blackberry Cultivation Dissemination Project" prepared by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
Within the scope of the project, a technical visit was organized to successful blackberry gardens and a fruit juice production facility operating in the Batman Organized Industrial Zone (OSB). During this visit, Batman producers were provided with on-site information about modern blackberry cultivation techniques and fruit processing processes.
In addition, both theoretical and practical training on blackberry cultivation was provided to the producers participating in the project. In addition to the information provided by the experts, the aim was to increase the knowledge and experience of the producers by demonstrating the production activities on site during the technical tour. The farmers participating in the training were provided with detailed information on subjects such as blackberry varieties, planting, care, and methods of combating diseases and pests by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture officials.
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Aydın, in his statement regarding the project, emphasized that product diversity in Batman is increasing day by day. Aydın said, “While we are working to increase the yield and quality of our main products in our province, we are also carrying out important work to increase the production of additional income-generating products. We believe that the blackberry gardens we will establish together within the scope of the Blackberry Cultivation Dissemination Project will be a new source of income for our producers. We wish 2025 to be fruitful for our country and all our farmers.” This project aims to provide Batman farmers with an alternative source of income and contribute to the regional economy.
