
Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek, came together with leading representatives of the tourism sector as part of the April 15-22 Tourism Week events, evaluated the city's tourism potential and shared future goals. The meeting, which was also attended by Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin and Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association (AKTOB) President Kaan Kavaloğlu, was held at Üç Kapılar, one of the historical symbols of Antalya. Stakeholders who came together in this meaningful location expressed the successful start of the 2024 tourism season and their expectations for the upcoming period.
Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, in his speech at the meeting, emphasized that Antalya broke records in tourism in 2024 and stated that the 2025 season had a promising start. Şahin stated that Antalya has a strong tourism infrastructure and expressed that they are in constant communication with all stakeholders and hope to have a good season.
Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek emphasized that they prioritize cleaning the seas on the 640-kilometer coastline from Gazipaşa to Kaş in Antalya. Mayor Böcek stated that they monitor the seas 7/24 thanks to the electronic ship inspection system and meticulously carry out all necessary inspections. He also added that the necessary steps were taken immediately under the chairmanship of Governor Hulusi Şahin after the fire that occurred in Bolu Kartalkaya. Mayor Böcek, who also provided information about the accommodation facilities in Antalya, said that they regularly meet with sector representatives and coordinate improvement efforts in the businesses.

He stated that a smart intersection system has been adopted at 148 intersections throughout the city and that the work carried out by the ministry is also supported. Referring to the infrastructure works, Mayor Böcek announced that a 5,5 billion lira investment is ongoing by the Antalya Water and Wastewater Administration (ASAT) and that the capacity of the Kundu Treatment Plant has been increased by one hundred percent. Drawing attention to the works aimed at protecting the historical and cultural heritage, Mayor Böcek emphasized that the restoration works at the Hıdırlık Tower have come to an end and that all necessary works continue uninterruptedly as the Metropolitan Municipality in Kaleiçi, which he describes as the heart of Antalya.
Following the meeting, Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, President Muhittin Böcek and sector representatives took a short walk around Kaleiçi, chatted with the tradesmen and wished them good business. Mayor Böcek also paid close attention to the tourists visiting Kaleiçi and listened to their views and suggestions. This sincere meeting once again demonstrated the strong cooperation between Antalya's tourism stakeholders and the common determination to carry the city even further. Antalya is preparing to display an ambitious performance in the new tourism season with its clean sea, developed infrastructure and rich cultural heritage.
