A New Breath in the Luxury MPV Segment from Mercedes-Benz

The introduction of the modular, flexible and scalable Van Electrical Architecture (VAN.EA) will usher in a new era from 2026. With this new model, Mercedes-Benz is redefining the concept of the specially positioned MPV and is bringing it to the luxury segment with a special emphasis on the “Private Lounge”. The future model portfolio will range from practical, entry-level family vehicles and exclusive VIP shuttles to luxurious MPVs with generous interior space, each tailored to individual customer requirements. Mercedes-Benz Light Commercial Vehicles is expanding the upper end of the model portfolio and defining a unique segment of its own, bringing true grandeur to automotive luxury.

The “Vision V” concept vehicle sets the course for a new era and offers a perspective on the “Mercedes-Benz VLS” top-of-the-range model of the future. The Vision V presents a vision of combining spacious interior space with maximum exclusivity and a unique, impressive digital experience. The Vision V is a luxury MPV designed for chauffeur-driven use that combines luxury and elegance, offering its passengers the opportunity to experience a completely new dimension of comfort. Traditional craftsmanship combines with an impressive user experience to create a holistic atmosphere in the interior. The sporty and elegant exterior design emphasizes the iconic Mercedes-Benz lines while simultaneously reflecting dynamism and prestige.

Stating that Vision V is the beginning of a new era for Mercedes-Benz Light Commercial Vehicles, Thomas Klein, Head of Light Commercial Vehicles, Mercedes-Benz Group AG“It shows how we bring luxury to a spacious cabin and define a new segment. We set standards in design, comfort and an immersive user experience while meeting the high demands of our customers,” he said.

Mercedes-Benz Light Commercial Vehicles, which has had an iconic position in the sector for decades, has taken this heritage with the Vision V and brought the highest level of luxury passenger transportation to a new context. Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer, Mercedes-Benz Group AG underlines that this concept vehicle sets a new standard for the future by representing the perfect harmony between luxury and MPV design.

Redefining luxury space: Lounge character with ultimate comfort

The large, automatic opening “portal” door on the right side and the illuminated, retractable step provide comfortable and easy access to the luxurious rear lounge area. A smart, switchable glass wall separates the “Private Lounge” from the driver’s area. The glass can be switched from transparent to opaque as desired, either completely or in certain sections. The “Private Lounge” seating area also stands out for its exceptional spaciousness. This comfortable atmosphere offers a unique sense of spaciousness and freedom, while also providing a sense of security and peace. The aesthetics of the spacious interior reflect elegance combined with technological touches. It sets new standards in automotive engineering, taking design into an exciting digital future. Traditional materials are combined with stylish yet hyper-modern and tech-savvy design elements.

Crystal white Nappa leather and sparkling white silk contrast with large decorative elements made of open-pore root wood. Reminiscent of a special sideboard, the side walls are fitted with display cabinets integrated into the dark wood paneling and framed by polished aluminum strips. These compartments provide storage space for personal accessories. The game controller for racing games and one of the 42 speakers of the Dolby Atmos surround sound system are also located here. The additional speakers are mounted in round glass enclosures that project elegantly from the side walls with hand-crafted design brackets. These details further emphasize the sense of elegance and spaciousness of the living space. The center console, designed as a display cabinet, features a touch pad for controlling the infotainment system as well as a foldable table. When opened, the table takes on the appearance of a high-quality chessboard and is another tribute to the elegance and beauty of traditional craftsmanship. The center console automatically adapts to the seating position to ensure maximum comfort.

Innovative luxury seats with a design that is ahead of its time

The first-class seats are reminiscent of elegant lounge chairs and stand on polished aluminium bases. The seats, consisting of highly flexible tubular cushions, have a unique and futuristic design. Shiny clamps made of polished aluminium hold the cushions together. The electrically adjustable seats offer the best ergonomics and ensure first-class travel comfort. In addition, the seats, which have four different settings to offer the occupants a high level of comfort, can also be adjusted to a fully horizontal position. The ambient lighting, supported by the surrounding strip lights and the ceiling light, creates an exclusive and warm living room atmosphere. The special fragrance in an elegant polished aluminium bottle behind the centre console provides an extra touch that completes the sensory experience.

World-class digital experiences in the “Private Lounge”

One of the most striking features of the “Private Lounge” seating area is the 65-inch foldable cinema screen with split-screen function, hidden under the floor. Once the passengers have boarded and the doors are closed, this screen rises from the console designed with polished root wood and Nappa leather. Through the transparent panels in the floor, passengers can watch the screen unfold and separate the “Private Lounge” area from the cockpit. When the cinema screen is activated, it transforms the interior into an immersive experience world never seen before in any vehicle, creating a unique atmosphere.

The cinema screen with 4K resolution shows videos and games with exceptional clarity and detail. The surround sound system with Dolby Atmos ensures perfect multi-dimensional sound enjoyment. A total of 42 speakers, including the exciters in the seats, ensure that the music is felt. Seven projectors in the headliner and floor expand the field of view. The side windows become additional ‘screens’, creating a digital 360-degree experience. This unique cocoon effect is further enhanced by the integration of ambient lighting while listening to music. The lighting adapts its colours to the rhythm of the music. The 65-inch cinema screen is operated via the touch pad in the centre console and can be removed from the floor and placed back in place.

In addition, thanks to the solar panel roof, it can provide greater range with the electricity it produces, depending on shade, sunlight intensity and geographical location. For example, on a sunny summer day, the solar panel roof can produce an average of 3,44 kWh of electricity per day. Considering the estimated consumption of 100 kWh per 15,5 km, this means a daily range of approximately 22 km. This means that part of the daily journey can be made entirely with solar energy.

Seven worlds of interactive experiences that take personalised luxury to a new level
The Vision V's immersive digital user experience offers an impressive sense of depth, inviting passengers into seven different worlds of experience.

· Entertainment: Choose a movie from the video collection or sit back and enjoy the ride while listening to your favorite artist’s music. In audio mode, the digital soundbar offers an immersive music experience. The cinema screen can also be partially opened to create an integrated digital interface with the soundbar.

Relaxation: After a busy day, you can turn the seats into relaxation mode and watch a peaceful view on the cinema screen and soft music playing in the background.

· Gaming: The MPV becomes a gaming hub for gamers, offering racing games that can be played with a separate controller, for example.

· Work: The “Private Lounge” transforms into a mobile office; the cinema screen becomes a virtual desk.

· Shopping: Take time during your trip to buy tickets for a golf tournament or tennis event, or choose a new ring or perfume. The interactive store displays products as if you were in a real store.

· Exploration: You can explore your surroundings during your journey. The environmental navigation, which is transferred to the 65-inch cinema screen, shows the vehicle's surroundings realistically with 3D game engine graphics. Thanks to augmented reality technology, additional information is reflected in the camera image.

· Karaoke: Singing your favorite song while driving and doing karaoke is possible at any time on the Vision V.

Triple-screen Superscreen for front seat passengers

The cockpit of the Vision V also offers a high-level digital experience. Consisting of three screens, the Superscreen extends from one column to the other. The user interface and experience can be customised according to individual preferences. Real-time graphics provide all the important information, from the dynamic virtual instrument cluster to the surround navigation, which displays the vehicle’s surroundings on a map in real time and works in integration with the assistance systems.

Aerodynamic exterior design: Low silhouette with innovative aesthetics

The exterior design of the Vision V marks the next step in the development of Mercedes-Benz’s unique “emotional purity” design language. Its meticulously designed appearance is shaped by an innovative aesthetic approach that aims for aerodynamic perfection. The nose and front section are noticeably short, while the sides have a particularly narrow waistline. The roofline, which flows with taut fluidity to the rear, gives the vehicle a powerful and dynamic lightness. This fluid silhouette symbolizes self-confidence and hints at the design language and superior driving experience that Mercedes-Benz will offer in all future MPV models.

Striking chrome-plated details and transparent illuminated grilles reflect the fusion of tradition and future. LED lighting, visible from every angle, emphasises the vehicle’s proportions, giving it more movement, dynamism and elegant refinement. The welcome screens on the chrome-plated B-pillars reflect the exclusive digital experience offered in the interior.

Iconic design elements in a new light

The striking front design of the Vision V is highlighted by the reinterpreted chrome radiator grille. This grille, which includes three horizontally illuminated glass air vents, is surrounded by around 200 technologically-looking light elements. The distinctive open bodywork space under the bonnet is adorned with around 190 additional illuminated air vents. These louvres frame the headlights, which feature the iconic three-pointed Mercedes star. Passengers approaching the Vision V are greeted by a dynamic and artistic light display across all the air vents. This impressive display culminates in the brightly illuminated Mercedes star on the bonnet. The light elements below the headlights serve as direction indicators.

The Vision V emphasises its sporty proportions with its two prominent power domes on the short bonnet, which extend to the cockpit, its wide wheel arches and its impressively sharp lines. The strong volume in the wide fenders and the clearly defined side body, combined with the precise lines, reveal the athletic character of the vehicle. The combination of the anthracite, metallic-sheen Alubeam paint on the sides and the chrome-plated window surrounds emphasise the perfect balance between elegance and dynamism. The 24-inch wheels also feature illuminated air vents. The welcome screens integrated into each of the chrome-plated B-pillars provide an insight into the exclusive digital experience offered in the interior. The interplay of light and movement continues at the rear. The large rear window is framed by more than 450 three-dimensional illuminated air vents that serve as tail lights and brake lights.
