Siemens Mobility will deliver 14 additional Avenio trams to strengthen the public transport fleet of the German city of Nuremberg. The agreement represents an option exercised under a framework contract signed in 2019 for up to 87 four-section trams in total, valued at 67 million euros. 26 Avenio trams were previously ordered under the same contract.
Modern and Efficient Trams for Nuremberg
The new Avenio trams to be delivered have been designed to fully meet the latest safety and environmental standards. In addition to offering high energy efficiency, these modern trams stand out with their advanced control systems and spacious passenger cabins. Compared to traditional tram models, the Avenio promises lower operating costs and greater resistance to external factors.
Nuremberg's Public Transport Modernization Drive
This new acquisition is an important part of the city of Nuremberg’s strategy to modernise its public transport system. According to the contract, delivery of the new trams will begin in 2028. This phased delivery process will enable the city to gradually renew its existing tram fleet and improve the quality of service offered to passengers.
The new Avenio trams are expected to effectively accommodate increasing passenger numbers and shorten urban travel times thanks to their high manoeuvrability. This investment is considered an important step towards the development of the public transport infrastructure in Nuremberg. The framework agreement concluded in 2019 is an indication of the successful cooperation between Siemens Mobility and Nuremberg, and this latest agreement confirms the continuity of this cooperation.
All in all, this new tram delivery by Siemens Mobility will significantly improve the quality of public transport services for Nuremberg residents and visitors to the city and offer passengers a highly comfortable travel experience.
