Trouw Nutrition Introduced Sustainable Agriculture Projects in Türkiye

Continuing its efforts to raise healthy farm animals with the mission of 'Feeding the Future', Trouw Nutrition held the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) Leadership Conference in Türkiye. The conference, where new projects for the Turkish market were brought to the agenda, brought together the company's international key executives in Istanbul. Focusing particularly on sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry practices, the company announced at the event that it will implement the Carbon Reduction Program, which aims to reduce carbon emissions in ruminant farms, and the Layer Longevity Program, which optimizes resource use by extending the lifespan of animals in poultry farms, in Türkiye. In addition, it was announced that the innovative product Sprayfo - Ultimo calf food, which ensures healthy growth of calves and increases productivity on farms, will be introduced to the market. Stating that Türkiye is the 2,3nd largest feed market in Europe with an average annual growth rate of 2 percent, Trouw Nutrition Turkey Country Manager Gonca Altıntaş emphasized that they will accelerate their investment processes in parallel with this growth.

Trouw Nutrition, the innovative solution partner of the livestock sector, brought together approximately 10 senior executives who have successfully implemented projects in more than 110 countries in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region in Istanbul. Hosted by Gonca Altıntaş, Trouw Nutrition Turkey Country Manager, the ECA Conference evaluated 2024 and discussed strategies for 2025. At the conference, where productive steps were taken for the future of the sector, Trouw Nutrition Europe and Central Asia (ECA) General Manager Pieter Bastiaanssen, Nutreco Chief Digital Officer Maarten Bijl and Trouw Nutrition COO Eduardo Alberto provided important information about the strategies implemented in the Europe and Central Asia regions.

“Türkiye is one of the 10 largest markets in the world in terms of animal feed”

Emphasizing the importance of creating awareness about sustainability in rapidly growing markets like Turkey, Trouw Nutrition Turkey Country Manager Gonca Altıntaş made the following statements: “The fact that Türkiye is hosting this year’s ECA Conference is directly related to the growth potential of our country in the livestock and feed sector. Turkey is the 2,3nd largest feed market in Europe and the 2th largest in the world with an average annual growth rate of 10 percent. As Trouw Nutrition, we have been operating in the Turkish market since the early 2000s and are among the leading players in the sector. Our conference, which we held with the participation of approximately 110 senior executives in the international arena, once again revealed the regional importance of Türkiye. Based on this, new projects for the Turkish market were also on the agenda at the conference. In this context, we plan to introduce the patented Sprayfo – Ultimo calf food, which we developed by taking inspiration from the genetic potential of calves, to the Turkish market as the most important innovation product of 2024. With this innovative product, we aim to increase the productivity of farms by supporting the healthy growth of calves. As one of the leading players in the sector on a global scale, we will continue our work with increasing momentum to accelerate our investment processes in Türkiye and achieve our long-term growth targets.”

Sustainability-focused solutions introduced

At the conference, where innovative solutions for the feed sector were also widely discussed, Nutreco’s Chief Digital Officer Maarten Bijl stated that digitalization has become an indispensable element for the sector. Bijl also emphasized the critical role that artificial intelligence and automation will play in improving processes. On the other hand, Trouw Nutrition, which focuses on sustainability as one of its most important topics, discussed the environmental and economic benefits of sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry practices at the conference. In this context, the company introduced the Carbon Reduction Program and Layer Longevity Program it developed for the ruminant and poultry sectors. While the Carbon Reduction Program reduces carbon emissions especially in ruminant farms, the Layer Longevity Program will optimize resource use by extending the lifespan of animals in poultry farms. Within the scope of the Layer Longevity Program, sustainable production will be supported by implementing strategies targeting a yield of 100 eggs for 500 weeks.
