With the protocol signed between Izmir Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres (IzBBŞT) and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre, a “Play Exchange Program” was initiated between the two theatres. In this context, IzBBŞT’s play “The Passenger” met with theatre lovers in Bursa.
A “Play Exchange Program” protocol was signed between Izmir Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres (IzBBŞT) and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre. Within the scope of the protocol, which includes sharing the plays staged by the two theatres within a certain calendar, IzBBŞT’s play “The Passenger” was staged in Bursa. Written by Nazım Hikmet and directed by Orhan Alkaya, the play met with the audience at Bursa Tayyare Culture Center for two consecutive days. The performance of the Izmir City Theatres actors was highly appreciated.
“Our meetings will continue”
After the performance, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality City Theater General Art Director Ali Düşenkalkar presented flowers to the actors. Düşenkalkar said in his speech, “I present these flowers to congratulate the sweat of our actors and the first meeting of our two theaters. The voices of theater people should not be silenced; our hearts are warm when we are together. We grow by multiplying, we exist by multiplying… For this reason, we signed a protocol with Izmir City Theaters. Our meetings will continue. We will also take our plays to Izmir, and they will visit us frequently. Yolcu was their first play, and we plan to take the stage in Izmir in the second week of April.”
About the passenger game
While the War of Independence continues, Nazım Hikmet's play Yolcu, which tells the story of three people who are unaware of the war and whose "world consists only of themselves" at a station where no trains stop, is interpreted against the backdrop of "Kuvayi Milliye" under the direction of Orhan Alkaya. Şirin Saraçoğlu, Ayhan Anıl, Efe Ünal and Deniz Gürzumar take part in the play.
