Global logistics giant DP World has announced its new pan-European logistics service, which includes a critical logistics hub in Istanbul. The new service aims to strengthen trade links between Turkey and Romania and further consolidate Türkiye’s role as a strategic trade bridge between Europe and Asia.
Multimodal Transportation and High Efficiency
DP World aims to meet the evolving customer needs in Europe by combining road, sea, air, rail and multimodal transport in its new service. This will make the company’s supply chain more efficient and improve operational processes. This will give customers the opportunity to reduce costs and speed up delivery times. DP World also aims to provide transparency at every stage.
The new service will further strengthen its presence in Türkiye following the launch of DP World Evyap (the strategic partnership between Yarımca Port and Evyapport) in 2022. This development will further accelerate Türkiye’s trade connections with Europe.
Strategic Importance of Istanbul and New Groupage Line
DP World has established a new groupage line in Istanbul, enabling small loads belonging to different customers to be combined into a single shipment. This reduces costs for customers without full truckloads, increases efficiency by increasing capacity utilization and reduces environmental impact. The groupage line supports multimodal transportation integration, enabling loads to be transferred seamlessly between road, rail and sea transportation.
Operational Control Tower in Bucharest and Romania's Strategic Location
DP World has installed an Operational Control Tower for its European network in Bucharest. This tower will coordinate all service components, such as groupage, first/last mile delivery, warehouse services, customs consultancy and multimodal transport. Romania’s strategic geographical location gives DP World a strong presence in this location. In addition, the Port of Constanta acts as a gateway for shipments from Istanbul, while providing access to the Danube River, allowing products to be transported to Europe by road and rail.
