Uzbekistan Railways proudly introduced new passenger wagons manufactured at its factory in Tashkent. These wagons were introduced as models 61-950 and 61-951 and aim to make significant contributions to the country’s railway transportation by 2024. The new wagons are 26 meters long, offering more space than the old 24-meter models, increasing passenger comfort. They are also equipped with advanced features such as environmentally friendly toilets, CCTV security systems and adjustable heaters.
Increase in Production Capacity and Regional Impact
As of 2024, the Tashkent plant has produced 35 new modern passenger cars for local lines. The production target by the end of this year will be 70 units, while long-term plans aim to produce 100 cars per year for sustainability purposes. In addition to local demand, Uzbekistan Railways also exports special cars to neighboring countries. This strategy increases Uzbekistan's influence in the railway sector and supports its opening up to regional markets.
Innovative Designs and Travel Experience
The designs of the new wagons comply with modern railway transport trends. Features such as CCTV systems and climate control, which increase travel safety, provide passengers with a comfortable and safe travel experience. These features allow Uzbekistan Railways to develop in line with global railway innovation trends.
Rather than revealing its technical specifications, the company is constantly working to improve the travel experience by focusing on fleet development. This strategy aims to improve the quality of travel on Uzbekistan Railways while also maximizing customer satisfaction across the network.
Regional Leadership and Future Goals
Uzbekistan Railways is consolidating its leadership in the railway industry in Central Asia with the increase in production at its Tashkent plant. These developments position Uzbekistan as a major transport player not only in the local market but also at the regional level.
The ambitious production targets set for 2025 will enable the company to take a strong step towards growth and development. Uzbekistan Railways plans to meet passenger demands efficiently and reliably with investments in technology and an innovation-oriented approach.
The new carriages mark a significant milestone in rail transport as part of Uzbekistan Railways’ modernization efforts. As an active player in local and regional markets, the company will continue to both increase passenger satisfaction and drive rail innovation in Central Asia. With this strategic approach, the Tashkent facility will continue to strengthen regional connections and consolidate its leadership in the rail sector.
