
The Underwater Search and Rescue (SAK) team affiliated with the Erzurum Provincial Gendarmerie Command continues its search and rescue activities under all conditions with the intensive training it has received.
The 2020-person team, established in 6 within the Gendarmerie in Erzurum, has been continuing its duties on a 24-hour basis since then. The SAK team, which performs 150 hours of underwater search and rescue and training activities, undergoes training in different scenarios that reflect real duty conditions every year. In a post made by the Erzurum Governorship, it was stated that “The team, which is on duty in Artvin, Ardahan and Kars as well as Erzurum, can dive up to a maximum depth of 40 meters.”
SAK Team Commander Senior Staff Sergeant Erdinç Doğan stated that they take on duties under all conditions and said, “Our team carries out search and rescue operations against floods, inundations, disasters and accidents against those who are lost, have accidents and request help in the waters within our area of responsibility.”
