Ekinciler, Türkiye's Strategic Port in the Mediterranean, Grows with New Investments

Ekinciler Port, one of the most important logistics centers on the Mediterranean coast of Türkiye, draws attention with its strategic location and growing capacity. The port expansion project initiated by Ekinciler Holding AŞ with its 60 years of experience will both contribute to the regional economy and make Türkiye more competitive in global trade. With the expanded capacity and new investments, Ekinciler Port is on its way to becoming an important actor in international trade.

Port Expansion Project and Capacity Increase

While the current capacity of Ekinciler Port is limited to handling 20.000 tons of cargo per day, these figures will increase significantly with the expansion project. With the new investments, the port will become a center with increased depth that can host large-tonnage ships. The port, located in İskenderun Bay, will also be suitable for intermodal transportation thanks to the national railway connection, thus providing significant acceleration in both import and export processes.

Within the scope of the project, the current length of the port's pier, which is 430 meters, will be extended by 370 meters, bringing the total to 800 meters. In addition, the width of the port will be increased to 40 meters, and the depth will be increased from 23-24 meters to reach a capacity of 200.000 DWT. In this way, the port will be able to serve larger tonnage vessels and will become more important in Türkiye's international trade.

Logistics Advantages and Türkiye's Competitiveness

The strategic location of Ekinciler Port is also an important factor in the success of the project. Being 70 km from Hatay Airport, 120 km from Adana Airport and only 500 meters from the main road makes the port an attractive option for both local and international transportation. With its expanding capacity, the port will be equipped to serve not only large-tonnage ships but also different types of cargo.

Ekinciler Port will also develop an infrastructure that will encourage sustainable transportation. Thanks to the national railway connection, environmentally friendly transportation methods will be supported, which will increase Türkiye's logistics capacity and make the country stronger in international competition. Ekinciler Port's modern crane investments and strong infrastructure will ensure that all types of cargo are transported efficiently.

Economic and Regional Contributions

This huge investment will not only advance Türkiye’s logistics infrastructure but will also make significant contributions to the regional economy. It is expected that import and export processes will accelerate, logistics costs will decrease and operational efficiency will increase. These developments will also increase investment interest in the region and create new employment opportunities. The port, which can provide service to large-tonnage ships in particular, will strengthen Türkiye’s goal of becoming a logistics center.

What Will Change With This Project?

The advantages of the Ekinciler Port expansion project can be listed as follows:

  • Export and Import Will Accelerate: By increasing the capacity of the port, time and cost advantages will be provided in Türkiye's foreign trade.
  • Regional Economy Will Revitalize: Logistics investments will trigger economic growth in the region and create new job opportunities.
  • Employment Will Increase: With the new project, employment rates in the region will increase, and new job opportunities will arise, especially in the port and logistics sectors.
  • Türkiye's Aim to Become a Logistics Center Will Be Strengthened: The developing infrastructure and expanding capacity of the port will enable Türkiye to take a big step towards becoming a regional and global logistics center.

The expansion project of Ekinciler Port reinforces Türkiye’s power in industry and logistics. This major investment will strengthen Türkiye’s role in international trade and make Ekinciler Port a more important player in the global logistics network. This project, which is of great importance in terms of both regional development and international competition, will carry Türkiye’s logistics infrastructure into the future and rapidly progress towards becoming one of the important centers of global trade.
