Turkcell Opened the 20th Technology Room of the Digital Spring Project

As part of the Digital Spring Project, which Turkcell has been carrying out in collaboration with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, the 20th technology room was opened at the Gaziantep Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center. Turkcell General Manager Dr. Ali Taha Koç said, “In the last 4 years, we have established technologically equipped Digital Spring Rooms in nursing homes in different provinces. Today, we are happy to open the 20th Digital Spring Room in Gaziantep. As Turkcell, we are facilitating our elders’ access to information and participation in the digital world with this project, where we bring technology to nursing homes and provide Digital Literacy training.”

Türkiye's leading technology company Turkcell continues to expand the scope of the Digital Spring Project, which it carries out under the auspices of the Ministry of Family and Social Services. The technology hall opened in Gaziantep as part of the project, which aims to ensure that adults living in nursing homes use technology more consciously, is the 20th Digital Spring Room to be opened so far.

Digital Spring Room in 2021 nursing homes since 20

After the opening ceremony, Turkcell General Manager Dr. Ali Taha Koç came together with the nursing home residents for iftar and stated that the project that started in 2021 continues successfully and said:

“As Turkcell, we believe that technology is an equalizing force for opportunity. In this context, our social responsibility projects aiming to ensure that everyone from 7 to 70 has equal opportunities in accessing information continue uninterruptedly. As part of our Digital Spring Project, where we create technology-equipped resting and experience areas in nursing homes, we established our 20th room in Gaziantep. We attach importance to strengthening our elders’ relationships with technology and allowing them to benefit from the opportunities of the digital world. Our elders living in nursing homes with Digital Spring Rooms can gain new skills and become more active in the digital world. They can perform their transactions via e-government and e-pulse, play digital games, make video calls, and experience VR. In addition, television and music equipment are being added to the rooms. I hope that our new Digital Spring Room in Gaziantep will be beneficial for our elders living here, and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this meaningful project, especially the Ministry of Family and Social Services.”

“There is no age limit for learning with Turkcell Digital Spring”

Dr. Ali Taha Koç, who stated that digital literacy training is also provided under the project roof with the motto “There is no age limit for learning with Turkcell Digital Spring”, said, “In these trainings, information is provided on digital literacy, cyber security, e-government applications, safe social media, internet and e-mail usage, computer and device usage, digital signature, digital banking transactions. In this way, we enable our elders to experience the online world more easily and securely.”

Car racing simulation grand finale in Istanbul

Dr. Ali Taha Koç, who also provided information about the 'Digital Spring Great Race' event that Turkcell organized this year as part of the project, specifically for the 18-24 March Respect for the Elderly Week, continued as follows:

“In order to ensure that our elders can reinforce their digital competencies in a fun environment, we are organizing the ‘Digital Spring Big Race’ event where they can have fun in car racing simulators. Our elders living in nursing homes in different cities participated in this competition and competed. We will first tour Istanbul with our 5 elders who completed the course in the shortest time during the Respect for the Elderly Week on March 18-24. Then, we will host them at Turkcell Headquarters and organize the final race.”

More than 10 billion TL investment in social benefit projects in the last 12 years

Stating that Turkcell has provided more than 10 billion TL in support to social benefit projects in the last 12 years, Dr. Ali Taha Koç concluded his words as follows:
