Mayor Büyükkılıç stated that they aim to prevent speed violations and reduce accidents with the Electronic Control System (EDS) application, which is currently being installed.
Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, together with transportation staff, discussed the transportation and intersection arrangements in the city within the framework of the Transportation Master Plan.
The meeting held at the Metropolitan Municipality Headquarters was attended by Mayor Büyükkılıç, Highways 6th Regional Director Ahmet Bülent Büyük, Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Hüseyin Beyhan, deputy general secretaries, department heads and transportation unit personnel.
In his statement after the meeting, Mayor Büyükkılıç stated that Kayseri is a rapidly developing, beautifying and growing city, and that transportation needs have also changed with growth.
“We Increase Comfort with Underpasses, Junction Arrangements and Alternative Routes”
Stating that the works on underpasses, junction arrangements and alternative routes are continuing in order to further increase transportation comfort in the city, Büyükkılıç continued his words as follows:
“Our Kayseri, the pearl of Central Anatolia, is developing, becoming more beautiful and of course growing. In parallel with this growth, needs are changing and the most important of these is the work we will do to carry the transportation comfort in Kayseri to better levels. With underpasses, junction arrangements and alternative roads, we are both increasing comfort and increasing the appeal of our city. We made evaluations in line with the Transportation Master Plan and exchanged ideas on junction works and underpass arrangements in the light of common sense.”
Reminding that there is over 500 thousand vehicle traffic in Kayseri and this number reaches 600 thousand with the vehicles coming from the surrounding provinces, Mayor Büyükkılıç stated that the studies on how to continue the traffic in a safe and comfortable way are being carried out meticulously.
Büyükkılıç emphasized that in addition to strengthening the transportation infrastructure, they aim to increase traffic safety with the Electronic Control System (EDS).
Everything for Safety and Comfort in Transportation
Making important statements regarding EDS, President Büyükkılıç said, “The Electronic Control System (EDS) is an important application carried out in cooperation with the local government in accordance with the criteria determined by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the General Directorate of Security. The service is provided not to put the citizen in a difficult situation, but to increase their comfort and create a security network. We are also carrying out our necessary work within this understanding.”
At the end of his statement, Mayor Büyükkılıç once again celebrated the month of Ramadan for the people of Kayseri and wished that the citizens would reach the Night of Power and the holidays in peace.
Electronic Control System Installation Work Continues
When the traffic accidents involving death and injury that occurred throughout the country in 2024 were examined, it was seen that 40 percent of them were caused by "Speed Rule Violation" and the majority of the accidents occurred in the form of "single vehicle, speed and inattention-related" going off the road.
Since Mustafa Kemal Pasha Boulevard, Kocasinan Boulevard and Kirkuk Boulevard, where EDS production is ongoing, were determined as the most intense accident black spots by the General Directorate of Security by the Traffic Services Branch Directorate affiliated to the Transportation Planning and Rail Systems Department of the Metropolitan Municipality, the application was started from these points.
While the Electronic Control System stands out as an important step in terms of traffic safety in Kayseri, the application will make significant contributions to the reduction of accidents and the creation of a safer environment in traffic.
