Traffic Regulation for the Friendship Boulevard Connection Road in Izmir

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality announced that the streets 5714/1 – 4171 and 5714/42 in front of Bozyaka Covered Marketplace will be closed to traffic for two months as of Thursday, March 13, so that the work on the Dostluk Boulevard Connection Road Project, which will solve the traffic problem in the Bozyaka region of Karabağlar, can proceed safely.

The construction of the 1-kilometer new development road that will connect Dostluk Boulevard and Eskiizmir Street, which will provide a breather for the traffic in Karabağlar, continues at full speed by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. In line with the decision of UKOME (Transportation Coordination Center), it was announced that in order to ensure environmental safety during the works and to complete the manufacturing as soon as possible, 5714/1 – 4171 and 5714/42 streets will be closed to traffic for two months starting from Thursday, March 13, 2025, to allow the passage of emergency vehicles.

Changes to ESHOT lines 550 and 556

Within the scope of the regulation, ESHOT General Directorate also changed the routes of bus lines. Temporary departure and arrival routes have been determined for Günaltay – Konak Metro bus lines numbered 550 and Çamlık – Üçyol Metro bus lines numbered 556. Due to the work, the temporary departure route has been determined as “Following the Current Route – 5714/1 Street – Martyr Pilot Volkan Koçyiğit Boulevard – Dostluk Boulevard – Sevgi Boulevard – Eskiizmir Avenue – Continuation of the Current Route”, and the temporary arrival route has been determined as “Following the Current Route – Eskiizmir Avenue – Sevgi Boulevard – Dostluk Boulevard – Martyr Pilot Volkan Koçyiğit Boulevard – 5714/1 Street – Continuation of the Current Route”. Vehicles will use Eski İzmir Avenue and connected streets.

100 million pounds investment

The Technical Services Department teams aim to complete the project quickly and put it into service. With an investment of approximately 100 million liras, the new development road to be opened between Karabağlar Dostluk Boulevard and Coşkun Kale Street will connect Eskiizmir Avenue and Yeşillik Avenue. The project, which will be an alternative to Eskiizmir Avenue and will significantly ease the district traffic, will have a 950-meter connection road with two arrivals and two departures. The connection road, which will solve the traffic congestion in Karabağlar Bozyaka, Sarıyer and Sevgi neighborhoods, will become safer and more comfortable for vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles. The project, which is planned to be completed in the first half of 2025, also includes new pedestrian and bicycle paths.
