
Hosted by Gemlik Municipality, the problems encountered by olive oil facilities in Gemlik, Mudanya and Orhangazi districts were discussed.
Gemlik Mayor Şükrü Deviren, Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç, Orhangazi Mayor Bekir Aydın and representatives of chambers of commerce attended the meeting and exchanged views on the obstacles facing the sector and solution proposals.
At the meeting, where Gemlik’s important role in olive and olive oil production was highlighted, issues such as licensing and infrastructure deficiencies were discussed in detail. Chamber of Commerce representatives shared the steps that need to be taken to increase the competitiveness of producers and strengthen the economic structure of the sector.
While the importance of the support provided by Gemlik Municipality to local producers was emphasized, it was stated that the municipality and chambers of commerce should work in cooperation to make production in the region sustainable and efficient. It was stated at the meeting that a consensus was reached on developing joint projects covering all regions, and that Gemlik in particular would take on a leading role in this process.
