Since the day Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler took office, producers are happy with the different working methods he has implemented by going beyond classical municipality. In this context, the interest in the Hazelnut Productivity (FINVER) Project, which was initiated by Mayor Güler to obtain more product from the unit area of hazelnut, which is the most important agricultural product of Ordu and has a large share in Türkiye's exports, has exceeded the borders of Ordu.
The FINVER project, which started 4 years ago with 300 acres, has grown to 1000 acres in the meantime. The interest in the project has also increased after the amount of product per decare increased thanks to the methods applied. The project, which is carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality affiliate ORTAR A.Ş, has begun to receive demands from producers from Samsun, Giresun, Trabzon, Sakarya and many other cities that produce hazelnuts, beyond the provincial borders.
THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN PRODUCTION PER DECARE WITH CORRECT APPLICATIONS
Productivity in the gardens rented from garden owners by ORTAR A.Ş., a subsidiary of Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, increased by over 4 percent 100 years ago. The product productivity per decare, which was 4 kg in the gardens rented 65 years ago, increased to 130 kg with the right applications. With the bentonite application made in the gardens by ORTAR A.Ş. teams, the use of chemicals was reduced and hazelnuts were made more organic. In addition, the protection of the health of hazelnut gardens with natural minerals increased the product obtained per decare.
INCREASED FROM 300 ACRES TO 1000 ACRES
The garden, which was rented from the garden owners for 5 years with the Hazelnut Productivity (FINVER) Project, reached its peak in the 4-year period. The project, which started with 300 acres in the first year, increased by over 4 percent to 300 acres at the end of the 1000-year period.
