Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, together with members of the press, examined the works that have reached the final stage in the New Industrial Site where the Old Industrial Zone and Karatay Industrial Zone will be moved.
After the examination, President Altay made a statement to the press members about the latest status of the project and stated that they made a field trip to see the final point reached in the relocation of Eski Sanayi and Karatay Sanayi, which are the red diamonds of Konya that they have been talking about for years.
“A MAGNIFICENT WORK OF THE PARTNERSHIP OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND CENTRAL GOVERNMENT”
Noting that the Old Industrial Zone and Karatay Industrial Zone have become unbecoming of Konya with their current building standards, green areas, parking lots and other difficulties, President Altay said, “We have come to the final stage of moving this structure, which contains traffic, environment and many pollutions in its current location and is no longer befitting of our city, to a shiny new industrial zone. Here again, there is one of the best examples of a magnificent work emerging with the partnership of a local government and the central government.”

Reminding that Konya Metropolitan Municipality is the land owner in the area, Mayor Altay said, “2 million 30 thousand square meters of land was transferred to TOKİ for the New Industrial Area. TOKİ is the producer company. The Urban Transformation Presidency of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change is also in coordination with the work. I would like to thank our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on behalf of the people of Konya for this important work. I would like to thank our valuable minister Mr. Murat Kurum, the son of Konya, with whom we signed this work, TOKİ Presidency and Urban Transformation Presidency on behalf of the people of Konya.”
THE PROJECT, WHICH HAS REACHED ITS FINAL STAGE, WILL BE COMPLETED IN 2025
Başka Altay, who shared the information that the project is now in its final stages, said, “We are now talking about the delivery period of the shops. Hopefully, we will deliver these shops to their rightful owners within 2025 and complete the relocation process of Eski Sanayi and Karatay Sanayi. In fact, three of our four-stage work has reached the delivery stage. We only have about 8 percent of our work left in the fourth stage. We could not hold the draw without the draw being drawn at the same time and the temporary acceptance works being completed for work safety. Hopefully, we are consulting with our ministry regarding the draw process. When the process is completed, we will have drawn the draws as soon as possible and delivered the 2.690 shops and 134 workplaces here to our tradesmen.”
“WE ARE ACTUALLY CARRYING OUT A GREAT SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION WITH URBAN TRANSFORMATION”
Stating that a major social transformation was also realized along with an urban transformation in the project, President Altay continued his speech with the following words:
“Because a system was created in which business owners and journeymen who have worked in the profession for more than 5 years are the rightful owners in Eski Sanayi and Karatay Sanayi. Our citizens have acquired these shops with various alternatives. Some have accepted the down payment condition. They have made their choices with 54 months of zero interest and a maximum term of 120 months. They have made their down payment, and now they will start their payments in the process following the draw. A payment opportunity of 10 years has also created a great opportunity for our citizens. We have brought one of the most beautiful industrial areas of Konya to our city with its green areas, parking areas and social areas. As we have always said, ‘we joined hands, we are realizing Konya’s dreams one by one’. Hopefully, another dream of Konya will come true in 2025.”
IT WILL BE TURKEY'S FIRST ZERO WASTE INDUSTRIAL SITE
President Altay also stated that the New Industrial Site is an exemplary service in the field of zero waste, and said, “With parking areas that can be used as parking lots for 2 vehicles in front of each shop, green areas, and social facility areas, one of the most beautiful industrial sites in Türkiye has been created. In addition, upon the instructions of our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, we are conducting a study with our ministry regarding this place being Türkiye’s first Zero Waste Industrial Site. Hopefully, we will have brought an exemplary industry to Konya in terms of waste. A thank you to our tradesmen. Of course, this is a very big job, we had to reach an agreement with more than 2 right holders, make the agreements and follow the process. Again, we have realized an urban transformation worthy of Konya with a great consensus without any problems.”
“WE WILL ALSO PREVENT THE TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN THE OLD INDUSTRIAL AREA”
Stating that the people of Konya will be moved from a place where the standard of receiving service is very low to such a perfect area together with the tradesmen, President Altay said, “We are also carrying out work on the demolition of the buildings and the elimination of the pollution there after the relocation of the old industrial area. We will thus prevent the serious traffic congestion in that area. I hope it will be beneficial for Konya. I am very happy to have realized a dream of the people of Konya. I hope our new industrial site will be beneficial for Konya, our country, our tradesmen and the people of Konya,” and concluded his speech with the following words.
