
The process regarding the Biodrying Technology Integrated Facility planned to be established by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in Kandıra Akçakese region continues. The EIA report prepared in line with the special format determined for this project, which will not harm the air, water and soil of the city, was discussed in Ankara.
EIA REPORT REVIEWED
The Biodrying Technology Integrated Facility planned to be built by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality in the Kandıra-Akçakese region was discussed in Ankara. The General Directorate of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permit and Inspection of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change requested opinions from over 15 institutions to assess the environmental suitability of the facility planned to be built in Kandıra. The relevant institutions and organizations completed their opinions and submitted them to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. The opinions regarding the EIA Report were discussed at the Review and Evaluation Commission meeting. The Metropolitan Municipality was represented at the meeting by the Head of the Environmental Protection and Control Department, Mesut Önem.
IT WILL BE AN EXAMPLE AND MODEL FOR Türkiye
The Metropolitan Municipality, which attaches great importance to the implementation of the Zero Waste Project in Kocaeli in a way that will set an example for Türkiye, will ensure that the city's waste problem is solved with the implementation of the facility. In this context, the Review and Assessment Board Meeting was held in Ankara in the process carried out within the scope of the EIA Regulation. The opinions of the institutions and organizations and the requests for changes to be made were received in the meeting in question. After the necessary arrangements are made in this direction, the final EIA Report will be uploaded to the Ministry's system and then the suspension process will begin. As a result of the evaluation of the objections received during the suspension process, the report will be finalized and submitted to the Ministry for approval.
FINAL DECISION IS AWAITED
MAVİ Bayraklı The Metropolitan Municipality, which is an environmentally friendly municipality with its public beaches, 100 percent wastewater treatment rate, public gardens, coastal parks, the Izmit Gulf fish breeding project and infrastructure services, is waiting for the final decision on the facility where it will introduce the city to new and modern waste management. Deputy Secretary General Gökmen Mengüç had previously explained to the public how the facility would work with a one-to-one mock-up of the facility, and stated that they wanted to implement the most modern and permanent method in the disposal of household waste in Kocaeli.
