Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, in his speech where he announced the major infrastructure projects to be carried out in Trabzon, stated that significant investments will be implemented to make the city more modern and comfortable in terms of transportation. At the 'Organization Meeting from Past to Present' organized by the AK Party Trabzon Provincial Organization, giant projects for the future of Trabzon were heralded. These projects include the new airport, the Samsun-Trabzon high-speed train line and the Southern Ring Road, while the transportation infrastructure in the city is expected to be transformed to a great extent.
Major Innovations in Transportation with the New Airport
Minister Uraloğlu stated that the current Trabzon Airport could not respond to the increasing passenger capacity and therefore the construction of the new airport was continuing rapidly. Emphasizing that Trabzon, a city important especially in terms of tourism and trade, has a serious need in terms of air traffic, the Minister also stated that the current airport was supported with temporary solutions such as the international arrivals passenger terminal and the CIP service building. In addition, he announced that the renovations in the domestic and international departures passenger terminals would be completed in 2025. The new airport will increase Trabzon's international connections and attract more tourists and business people to the city.
Samsun-Trabzon High Speed Train Project
Minister Uraloğlu announced that the Samsun-Trabzon High Speed Train Project, which will shorten the transportation distance between Trabzon and Samsun, is continuing at a great pace. This project will facilitate Trabzon's transportation with other Black Sea cities and will also make intercity journeys much faster and more comfortable. When the project is completed, the distance between Trabzon and Samsun will be reduced to only 2 hours. In addition, the Samsun-Sarp Railway Project will connect Trabzon to neighboring provinces such as Ordu, Giresun, Rize and Artvin via a high speed train line. In this way, transportation in the Black Sea Region will become more efficient, faster and safer.
Traffic Problem Will Be Solved with Southern Ring Road
The Southern Beltway, which is under construction to solve Trabzon's traffic problem, draws attention as a project that will significantly relieve the city. Minister Uraloğlu stated that the final stage has been reached on Kanuni Boulevard and that the city's transportation burden will decrease significantly after the completion of this project. The city center, one of the busiest areas of Trabzon, will experience great relief in terms of traffic with this new beltway. In addition, it was announced that 22 different highway projects such as Vakfıkebir Organized Industrial Road and Araklı-Dağbaşı-Uğrak Road are also progressing rapidly.
Urban Rail System to Trabzon
The 32-kilometer rail system project, which will bring a modern touch to Trabzon's transportation infrastructure, was also announced by Minister Uraloğlu. This project will extend the city from Akçaabat to the center of Yomra and facilitate access to the most important residential areas of Trabzon. The new rail system line will provide access to important points such as the City Hospital, Akyazı Stadium, Square, University, Bus Terminal and Airport. This project will provide Trabzon with a modern urban transportation system and significantly increase the public transportation options in the city. Uraloğlu said that the project is being carried out in partnership with the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality and that work is continuing rapidly to bring it to life as soon as possible.
Trabzon's Development Will Continue
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that Trabzon stands by the AK Party with its strong organizational structure and stated that Trabzon will continue to develop under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Stating that Türkiye is a growing power on a regional and global scale, the Minister said that Trabzon will continue to receive its rightful share of this growth. Stating that Trabzon will become a city that attracts the attention of both domestic and foreign investors, Uraloğlu said that investments will increase the quality of life in the city and will contribute greatly to the future economic development of Trabzon.

The mega projects announced by Minister Uraloğlu will ensure that Trabzon's transportation infrastructure becomes much more modern, fast and efficient.
