Eyelid Surgery is Preferred for Health and Aesthetics

Stating that eyelid surgeries have become increasingly widespread in recent years, Kaşkaloğlu Eye Hospital founder Prof. Dr. Mahmut Kaşkaloğlu said that significant gains have been made both in terms of aesthetics and vision.

Kaşkaloğlu stated that the excess skin, muscle and fat tissue on the eyelid that sags with aging is removed with a blepharoplasty operation, and that this operation is preferred for health and cosmetic reasons.

THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE EYELID IS CORRECTED

Prof. Dr. Mahmut Kaşkaloğlu, who provided information about eyelid surgeries, said: “This operation can be performed not only for aesthetic concerns but also for the purpose of improving vision. Drooping or bagging of the eyelids can prevent the eye from opening normally or the lids from closing completely. In this case, surgery can improve vision by opening the field of vision or correcting the functionality of the eyelids. Especially drooping of the upper eyelid can cause dry eyes or eye fatigue in some cases. In this case, surgery aims to protect eye health by correcting the functionality of the eyelid. Surgeries performed due to congenital anomalies, eyelid abnormalities or structural disorders ensure that the eyelid functions correctly.”

Prof. Dr. Kaşkaloğlu continued as follows: “Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to eliminate signs of aging such as sagging, puffiness and wrinkles on the eyelids. The aim of the surgery can generally be summarized as improving the patient's appearance or protecting eye health. Eyelid surgeries are performed by a specialist doctor and are performed in accordance with a treatment plan determined according to the individual condition and needs of the person.”
