Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has started the installation of the “Artificial Intelligence Supported Dynamic Intersection Control System”, which is the world's latest technology signaling system, in order to relieve city traffic.
The Department of Transportation has taken steps to implement an artificial intelligence-supported signaling system to ease city traffic.
Diyarbakir will be the 4th place to be implemented
The Artificial Intelligence Supported Dynamic Intersection Control System, which was established in Arkadag in Turkmenistan, Jakarta in Indonesia and Bursa in Türkiye, is now being implemented in Diyarbakır.
The time vehicles wait at traffic lights will be minimized
The system, which minimizes the average waiting time of vehicles throughout the intersection, examines the moving vehicle data, density and speed data between intersections, and operates the intersections in the most efficient way by providing coordination between intersections with the algorithms it runs within itself.
The system also creates origin-destination matrices in the city to detect mobility within the city with moving vehicle data. In this way, it is determined what percentage of vehicles in traffic come from where and where they go on which routes. In this way, the city can be examined in more detail on a macro and micro scale, and situations such as where interconnection roads should be built, construction, and which routes should traffic be managed can be determined.
Some of the work has been completed
The works initiated for the installation of the “Artificial Intelligence Supported Dynamic Intersection Control System” continue at many points of the city. At the intersections of Abdülkadir Aksu Street and Mezopotamya Boulevard, Abdulkadir Aksu Street and Nazım Hikmet Street, Aram Tigran Street and Kamışlo Street, Kamışlo Street and Mehmet Uzun Street, Orhan Doğan Street and Mehmet Uzun Street, Mezopotamya Boulevard and Mastfroş Street, Fırat Boulevard and Mezopotamya Boulevard, Nazım Hikmet Street and Mezopotamya Boulevard; excavation, pipe laying, electrical and internet cabling installation, field panel and camera pole installations have been completed, and infrastructure works are ongoing.
Intersections where work will begin
Work will soon begin at the intersections of Elazığ Avenue and Mezopotamya Boulevard, Elazığ Avenue and Ahmet Arif Avenue, Çevlik Avenue and Yeni Hal Avenue, Silvan Boulevard and Çıkrülü-Diyarbakır Road.
The system will be expanded
Metropolitan Municipality teams will carry out the necessary work to install the artificial intelligence-supported system at the city's important and busy intersections throughout the year.
