Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that Aydın Memecik Olive has been registered as a geographically indicated product by the European Union (EU), becoming the 31st product to gain this status. Minister Yumaklı emphasized that the flavors of Anatolia are now recognized not only within the borders of the country but also internationally.
Yumaklı said, “Our products with geographical indications will add more value to the fertile lands of their regions. This success will make a great contribution to both our country and our producers.” This development aims to increase the recognition of local agricultural products in global markets and provide economic benefits to producers.
The registration of Aydın Memecik Olives with a geographical indication by the EU symbolizes Türkiye's strengthening in the agricultural sector and is considered an important step towards increasing the value of such local products in the international market.
