
Applications have started for the “Zero Waste Competition” to be organized by the Ministry of National Education in all school levels from preschool to high school in order to encourage recycling among students, increase environmental awareness and develop innovative solutions.
Students will be able to apply for the competition in the categories of “Comics” and “Upcycling Waste to Art”, while schools will be able to apply in the category of “Living School Gardens”, which was added this year.
The Ministry of National Education will organize a “Zero Waste Competition” for pre-school, primary school, secondary school and high school students studying in public and private schools.
Categories in which students and schools can apply
In addition to the “Comics” and “Upcycling from Waste to Art” categories open to student participation, this year’s competition has added a “Living School Gardens” category that schools can participate in. Middle school and high school students can participate in the Comic Book Competition with their original comics that deal with the theme of zero waste. Preschool, primary school, middle school and high school students can participate in the Upcycling from Waste to Art Competition with artistic works they design using waste materials. Schools at all levels can participate in the Living School Gardens Competition with their nature-friendly works such as vertical gardens, green walls, compost areas, organic farming gardens, solar panels, renewable energy corners, recycling and upcycling, permaculture gardens and green roofs.
Prizes and surprises
The top three students in the competition categories will be awarded prizes such as smart watches, tablets, laptops, and electric bicycles according to their age groups. In addition, environmental certificates and surprise gifts will be presented to schools.
Application process and dates
The competition application will continue until April 11, 2025. The works will be delivered to the school principals by the specified date. The evaluation stages will be carried out at the school, district, province and ministry levels. The award ceremony will be held in June 2025 during Environment Week.
