600-Year-Old Historical Bathhouse in Konya to Become a Water Museum

Konya Metropolitan Municipality continues the restoration of the Karamanoğlu Mehmet Bey Bathhouse, located next to the Historical Meram Bridge, without interruption.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay examined the revitalization project that will ensure that Karamanoğlu Mehmet Hamam, one of the important historical structures of Konya, is passed on to the next generations and received information about the latest situation.

IT WILL BE DESIGNED AS A DIGITAL WATER MUSEUM

Making a statement after the inspection, Mayor Altay stated that they were carrying out important works in Meram, one of the most important brands of Konya, and that they were continuing the restoration of Karamanoğlu Mehmet Bey Hamam without interruption.

Noting that they started the process by first separating the reinforced concrete masses that were burdening the structure from the building, President Altay said, “Then we took care of the drainage sections around it. Then, a very important restoration work was carried out to reveal the bricks inside. Hopefully, after the holiday, we will have completed the restoration work of the building with the lead coating and sandblasting outside. We want to build a water museum inside. As you know, Konya is experiencing a very serious problem with drought due to climate change. Hopefully, we will have brought a digital museum here where we can tell the value of water to our citizens who come to Meram. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the restoration work. May it be auspicious for our city.”
