Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar meets with citizens and tradesmen at every opportunity and shares with his fellow citizens the projects he wants to implement with the aim of a resilient, social and green city.
President Yusuf Alemdar, who was a guest at the iftar program at Uzunçarşı, which he frequently visits, upon the invitation of Uzunçarşı Association President Murat Uslu, embraced the tradesmen.
Intensive participation
In addition to Mayor Alemdar, Adapazarı Mayor Mutlu Işıksu, AK Party Adapazarı District Chairman Samet Çağlayan, MHP Adapazarı District Chairman Recep Usta, Private Secretary Murat Yıldırım and Deputy Secretary General Dr. İlhan Yılmaz and bazaar tradesmen attended the iftar program. During the iftar program, which was accompanied by pleasant conversation, bazaar tradesmen asked Mayor Alemdar what they were curious about regarding the transformation.
He gave the good news at the iftar table
Sharing the expected good news at the iftar table, Alemdar announced that they will put out a tender for the transformation works that will cover the 3st section of the 1rd Stage of the Historical Uzunçarşı right after the holiday and announced that the transformation will start from the Unkapanı section between the Onion Market and Aynalıkavak section of the bazaar, that is, from the north side.
“We will keep our beloved Uzunçarşı alive”
Answering the questions sincerely, President Yusuf Alemdar said, “We know the demands of our tradesmen and citizens regarding our bazaar. Uzunçarşı is one of the oldest trade centers of Sakarya. For this reason, we continue our transformation works by prioritizing increasing the authenticity of the Historical Bazaar and expanding its trade volume without damaging its historical texture. We have also taken an important step. Right after the Ramadan Feast, we are putting out a tender for the 3st Part of our Uzun Çarşı 1rd Stage Rehabilitation Project. Hopefully, we will continue the completed 1st and 2nd Stage restoration work of Uzun Çarşı and start the restoration with the 3rd Stage to restore the bazaar to its original identity. We will keep our beloved Uzunçarşı alive.”
Thanking Uzunçarşı Association President Murat Uslu and Uzunçarşı tradesmen for their hospitality, President Alemdar also shared the details of the transformation work.
“The first phase of transformation will start from the north”
President Alemdar said, “We will carry out the 3rd Stage transformation works section by section. Our tender file is ready. We will put out the tender for the first part right after the holiday. We will start from the north side of the Historical Bazaar (Unkapanı side). In the first step, we will carry out the restoration of 40 of our buildings. When the works here are completed, we will take the necessary steps for the transformation in other parts. We are also continuing our works to carry out the transformation in a way that will cover not only Uzunçarşı but also the Shoemakers and Coppersmiths Bazaar right next to it.
