353 Guns and 913 Gun Parts Seized in Mersin

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya announced that a major success was achieved in a major operation carried out in Mersin. As a result of joint efforts carried out by the Mersin Provincial Police Department TEM, KOM and Intelligence Branch Directorates under the coordination of the Mersin Republic Chief Prosecutor's Office, 353 foreign-origin pistols, a large number of ammunition and 913 weapon parts were seized as a result of the operation against illegal weapon manufacturing and weapon smuggling.

An Important Step Against Illegal Weapons Manufacturing

The operation was successful after a search of a house and garden previously identified by the police. The weapons seized during these searches revealed the extent of illegal activities that threaten security in Mersin. In addition, three suspects were caught during the operation and an investigation was launched against them by the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Decisive Steps for Public Peace

Minister Yerlikaya stated in a post on his social media account that they are after those who threaten public peace by supplying illegal weapons and smuggling weapons. Emphasizing that a determined stance will be taken against the criminals with the words “We will catch you one by one”, Yerlikaya thanked the Mersin Governorship, Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and Mersin Provincial Police Department who participated in the operation.

This operation shows that security measures in Mersin will be strengthened and the fight against illegal arms activities will continue with determination.
