2024 Was the Year of Energy Savings

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources analyzed the year 2024 within the scope of the Second National Energy Efficiency Action Plan. As a result of the analysis, the rate of achieving the energy saving target for 2024 was 129 percent.

The thermal insulation of 103 thousand buildings was effective in exceeding the set target. In addition, the loss rate in the energy distribution network, which was 2023 percent in 10,08, was reduced to 2024 percent in 8,92. The entry of 2024 thousand hybrid vehicles into traffic in 184 also contributed to energy efficiency.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that they exceeded the target set in the first year of the action plan put into effect in 2024 and said, “We will reduce our energy consumption by 2030 percent in 16. We will achieve energy savings of 2040 billion dollars by 46.”

He Made Their Faces Smile

The Second Energy Efficiency Action Plan, covering the years 2024-2030, brought smiles to faces in its first year. In the 2024 impact analysis conducted by the Ministry, it was determined that a total of 3 billion 352 million dollars were invested in energy efficiency, 1 million 544 thousand TOE energy savings and 4 million 775 thousand CO2 equivalent emission reductions were achieved. Thus, the target set in the action plan was exceeded and a rate of 129 percent was reached.

Most Savings in Buildings and Services

Of the energy savings achieved, 44,1 percent came from buildings and services, 28,2 percent from industry, 9,2 percent from transportation, 14,9 percent from energy and 2,9 percent from agriculture. 0,7 percent was obtained from horizontal cutting studies between sectors.

White Goods Sales

In the Building and Services sector, heat insulation was applied to 103 thousand buildings. The use of efficient products increased with the sale of 8 million white goods and 2,1 million air conditioners. Loss rates in water distribution were reduced from 32,4 percent to 31,3 percent. In addition to saving 47 million cubic meters of water, additional savings were achieved by preventing the electrical energy required to pump this wasted water.

Processes Improved

Process improvements, design efficiencies and widespread electrification in the industrial sector accounted for 82 percent of the savings. The remaining savings came from efficient electric motor replacements, heat pump and waste heat recovery applications, and cogeneration systems.

162 thousand LEDs

In the energy sector, the loss rate, which was 2023 percent in 10,08, was reduced to 2024 percent in 8,92. 86 percent of the savings came from this 1,16 percent improvement in the loss rate in the distribution network. In this sector, on-site consumption-oriented solar power plants and 162 thousand LED applications were other developments that achieved savings.

Land Consolidations

While savings in the agricultural sector were achieved through land consolidation and the expansion of pressurized irrigation systems, the main source of savings in the transportation sector was electrification. In 2024, approximately 184 thousand TEP savings were achieved with the introduction of 105 thousand hybrid vehicles, 235 thousand electric vehicles, 123 thousand electric motorcycles and light commercial vehicles.

20 Billion Dollar Investment

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Bayraktar stated that they achieved 2024 million 1 thousand TOE energy savings in 544 and exceeded the target set in the first year of the action plan put into effect in 2024. Emphasizing that they aim to reduce Türkiye's energy consumption by 2030 percent in 16, Minister Bayraktar said, "As the public and private sectors, we will make an energy efficiency investment of 2030 billion dollars by 20,2."

Green Employment

Bayraktar noted that they will support companies operating in the field of energy efficiency with these investments, and said, “Thus, we will create new job opportunities in terms of green employment. Thanks to these investments, we will save 2040 billion dollars in energy by 46.”
