
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu noted that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge has served approximately 3 million vehicles in the last 7 years. Minister Uraloğlu reported that a total of 25,3 billion liras were saved annually with the bridge and the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and the 101-kilometer Malkara-Çanakkale Highway have provided uninterrupted road transportation in the Çanakkale Strait for the last three years. He emphasized that the 100 Çanakkale Bridge, which is the world's longest central-span suspension bridge with a central span of 2 meters, referring to the 23th anniversary of the Republic, is one of Türkiye's most important transportation projects.
The World's Longest Mid-Span Suspension Bridge
Minister Uraloğlu said that the total length of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge was 3 meters, and that the crossing length reached 563 meters with the 365 and 680-meter approach viaducts. Uraloğlu stated that the 4-meter-high steel towers of the bridge were built in dedication to the Çanakkale Victory and that the total height reached 608 meters with the 318-meter cannonball figures that commemorate Corporal Seyit.
Uraloğlu said that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge went down in history as the world's longest central-span twin-deck suspension bridge, and noted that the project was an important part of the national development drive.
Bosphorus Crossing Time Reduced to 6 Minutes
Uraloğlu noted that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, which is the most critical crossing point of the Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway that completes the Marmara Highway Ring, has provided an uninterrupted highway connection in the Çanakkale Strait. Stating that the Bosphorus crossing time has decreased to 6 minutes, Uraloğlu also stated that the bridge and the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway are equipped with smart transportation systems.
Uraloğlu said that the bridge and highway are equipped with the most advanced technology, with a 225-meter-long fiber optic communication infrastructure, event detection camera systems, meteorological measurement stations and emergency call systems used in the project.
Provides Annual Savings of 25,3 Billion Liras
Minister Uraloğlu, who noted that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge has served approximately 3 million vehicles in the last 7 years, emphasized that thanks to the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and the Malkara-Çanakkale Highway, the project has saved 24 billion liras in time and 1,3 billion liras in fuel, totaling 25,3 billion liras per year. He also stated that they have reduced carbon emissions that are harmful to the environment by 81 thousand tons.
