A Loyalty Bus from IETT to Barış Manço

Istanbul Electric Tram and Tunnel Operations (IETT) commemorated the legendary name of Turkish music, Barış Manço, with a special event on the 26th anniversary of his death.

With its 154-year deep-rooted history, IETT, one of the symbols of Istanbul, continues its tradition of commemorating names such as Neşet Ertaş, Ferdi Tayfur, Hulusi Kentmen and Adile Naşit, who have left deep marks on our art and culture world. In this context, the Vefa bus specially designed for Barış Manço was opened to the visitors of Istanbul.

The bus prepared in memory of Barış Manço, who brought unforgettable works such as “Gülpembe”, “My Friend Eşek”, “Aynalı Kemer”, “Halhal”, “Kara Sevda”, “Dağlar Dağlar” and “Nane Limon Zükü” to Turkish music and won the love of everyone from 7 to 77 with the television programs he prepared, was decorated with photographs of the artist, his works and sections from his life.

Kadıköy Barış Manço's son Doğukan Manço and Lale Manço Ahıskalı as well as many Istanbulites attended the introduction program of the bus that met with the public in the Square. As part of the program, people went to Kanlıca Cemetery accompanied by Manço's songs and visited his grave.

The Barış Manço Vefa bus, specially designed by İETT, numbered 16 Kadıköy – It will provide service for 15 days on the Pendik line, passing through the stop named after the artist. Then, it will continue to meet with citizens by operating in different parts of Istanbul.
