Sleep is an essential element for a healthy life. However, the technological habits and urbanization brought about by modern life make it increasingly difficult to maintain regular sleep habits. Research in the field of chronobiology in particular helps us understand how our bodies adapt to the day-night cycle and seasonal changes. Examining these processes at the molecular and cellular level offers scientific solutions not only in the field of health but also in many sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry, industry and medicine. The scientific events organized by the Asian Sleep Research Society (ASRS), of which Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören was elected as the president, also aim to address current developments in the field of sleep medicine.
Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören: “This is an important opportunity to strengthen scientific collaborations on a regional and global scale.”
Scientific studies on sleep and biological rhythms play a critical role in building a healthy society. Prof. Dr. Murat Özgören, who was elected President of the Asian Sleep Research Society, emphasizes that sleep is one of the basic elements of a healthy life and reminds us that scientific advances in this field have a direct impact on human health.
“Taking on the presidency of the Asian Sleep Research Society is an important opportunity to strengthen scientific collaborations regionally and globally,” said Prof. Dr. Özgören, adding, “In addition, the preliminary approval we received for the next Asian Sleep Research Congress to be held in Northern Cyprus will increase our country’s visibility in the scientific field and enable it to gain a stronger place in the international arena.”
